I've followed the development for a quite a while and it did seem promising a while back. I've tested it a few times before the Steam release and I do like what I see, so I will continue to keep an eye on it as it becomes more complete.
I think it needs work on some sort of introduction, as just dumping you into the world doesn't really feel great. That's a problem with a few of these new MMO games that have been popping up, with a lot of focus on the sandbox but not on teaching people what they can actually do.
I do like the fact that all buildings will be player-created, as it could make a rather interesting world.
It seems they also allow you to make your own server, so that's pretty cool.

I like the look of it, reminds me of Age of Empires 2 :D Is it very grindy? I hate crafting man, most stupid game idea of recent times.

i've been checking this one out from time to time since they planned to release for linux. it's good they stuck to what they claim.
aside from albion online these are some nice MMOs. just wished I had the time dedication for such an endeavor these days. maybe one day :D

I was initially turned off by the "open PvP" idea, suggesting that you could be attacked at any time no matter what. But then I saw they have a page (but no downloads) on Itch.io, which includes the following:
If that's actually the case, then I'd like it better. I don't know if it is though, since the official page doesn't have that text and they talk about PvP and non-PvP zones instead.

It's not a recent idea, but it was IMHO better implemented before World of Warcraft came along. Well, maybe you would hated it more, as there were no recipes for crafting xD. You had learn them by your own by combining materials. But then you had a slim chance to craft a really unique legendary item also, which was better then anything you could get from loot.

Well, I like that idea. Nothing is more boring then PVE. But in a PVP World especially with openPVP rules it is mandatory to play together with others if you want to survive. Otherwise you will have lots of frustrating moments.
My best MMO game experience has been on (Open)PVP-Servers so far. I like games esp. MMOs where players have the freedom to form the world as they like. My only fear is that it will end in a disaster with the current gamer generation. There are way to many idiots around nowadays which have nothing better to do then spoil the fun for all others.

EDIT: Found this on the Official Website: The game world is divided into several zones: in peaceful lands players are unable to attack each other and destroy buildings that don’t belong to them...

Not "nowadays" by any means, given PKing (player killing) was considered a problem back on Ultima Online back in 1997.

Yes, which is why I mentioned that in the comment you partially quoted.
It seems unclear what the situation is, because in one place they say you're vulnerable to PvP everywhere, in another they talk about PvP and non-PvP zones, and in yet a third they mention separate servers for PvP and PvE. All of which are official statements by the devs, so which is it?
