The classic strategy game 'Constructor' is now on GOG with Linux support thanks to DOSBox and it's free until tomorrow too.

I remember this one! I discovered it on the original Playstation a long time ago and I was utterly hooked. It's yet another classic title from my childhood now easily downloadable for Linux. There's simply no other title like it and it's free so go grab it and tell me what you think!

Awesome stuff from GOG.

About the game (Official)
Constructor takes the empire building and resource management of the best simulations and adds to it a strong dose of character interaction, humour, and strategic competition. Take the role of a real estate developer in a race to build up and manage resources, properties, environments, and human interaction, while trying to outperform and destroy rival development companies. Start with a few workers, foremen, repairmen, and a small sum of money. Through precise resource management you'll have to take care or your tenants' happiness and compete against your opponents. Would you like to be rich and ruthless or maybe you prefer to create your own Utopia?

- One of the most memorable city-building sims, distinguished by its cartoonish graphics and a wide range of "extra-curricular activities"
- Take out your competition's workers, steal their assets, burn their building and bribe city officials
- Management and competition in a humorous setting

Heh. A friend shared this with me via email. So, I had just claimed it before visiting GOL.

How odd -- I saw a second hand copy of this in Glasgow not too long ago. I remember my dad buying it for me randomly one day, but he didn't realise that it took up a full PSX 15-slot memory card for it's save, so he went and bought me a new memory card too!

I had some good fun with this one.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. It's great that GoG are really speeding up in adding Linux releases. It's always possible to download the windows installer for DOS games and configure DOSBox manually, but it's so much nicer when it's all pre-configured - especially with games that need a little bit of 'tweaking' to get working properly.

There's an HD remake of this on the way. Wonder if they have Linux plans.

Nice. It would be even better if it did not crashed my system on startup.

Could you start the game via your terminal and post the output? What error messages do you get when the game crashes?

it did not just crashed, when ran in fullscreen (the default), it made my HDMI output not work for some reason. Imagine you run game and you screen stops working. Had to restart computer.
