A GOL follower sent word that Alienware are giving out limited keys to a Disgaea 2 [Steam] demo test. The good news is I got one and it seems the demo already runs on Linux.

I assume the Linux/SteamOS beta came and went, as I didn't get a key to it, so it's pleasing I can at least test this out.

At the time of writing 4250 keys are left, so act fast.

Note: You need to sign up to get one.

Don't worry if you miss out, as the game will be officially available on January 30th.

Head here to grab it.

I can confirm it runs and it works properly with my two monitor setup. It has the correct monitor picked with the correct resolution. It minimizes correctly and can be pulled back up too.

The graphics haven't aged well at all and it looks pretty bad:

Check on the Steam screenshots, this is not a bug, the graphics really are just that poorly done. They haven't done any adjustments to smooth it out, so you can still see those tile lines.

I also spotted a spelling error:

"powrful" huh

Everything else I tested seemed to work fine, including the Steam Overlay.

It's great that we will see a day-1 release, even if it doesn't seem like it will be my cup. I don't mind retro or low-resolution graphics at all, but it just looks bad.

A demo? 21 hours? I'm almost afraid to give it a proper go myself.

Well the demo itself is only the start of the game, BUT at the end of the demo's contents, they say you can import your demo savegame into the full game.

So I'm grinding levels and some of my weapons as well.
