RUNNING WITH RIFLES [Official Site, Steam] is a fantastic top down army shooter and it has a major update featuring new weapons, vehicles and more.

I've had loads of fun with this game, especially when driving vehicles around and running people down. I still have fond memories of picking up a jeep and forcing an enemy player to dive off a bridge when I tried to run them down, good times.

It's best played online with people you know, as myself and Samsai did it and thoroughly enjoyed it!

See the full changelog here.

They have also announced an exciting bit of news coming in a few weeks, which I am eager to know what it is.

We should definitely get a game going sometime during a Twitch livesteam, anyone up for it? A Linux gamer army battle sounds like a good time to me. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Dammit. I just bought a 4-pack. The commando mode brought back too many fond memories of the commando mission in command & conquer. And the multiplayer looks pretty spectacular.

If there's an army forming for a Twitch, and I'm available (Friday's can be sketchy for me), I'll be there.

Is there in-game voice in this, or is it just easier to run your own TeamSpeak/Discord/whatever app to handle it?

Can't remember about voice, but it's always easier to use our own stuff to not have random others scream at us :)

I'm in but it depends on the time frame. Can manage few hours somewhere over the weekend. I'll have an excuse to install Mumble, at least.

So, I should know this, but if you're doing a multi-player game like this (i.e. organised through GOL), what's the official method of voice comms? Is it Mumble, as suggested by cprn? Or Discord, as I'm sure I've heard that mentioned before (maybe for chat, rather than voice though...)?

We usually tend to use Mumble, as people (hello Ysblokje) grumble at Discord. Hell, he grumbles at the ping on our Mumble server as it's in the US too so either is good for me :P
