Stellaris, the massive grand strategy game from Paradox is going through another update cycle and one little feature of the upcoming patch is the ability to accept refugees, but some people aren't happy about it.

It seems a delicate little flower on Twitter just couldn't take it anymore:

I wish I was making this up, but it's a real thing.

It was in response to this picture teased for the upcoming 1.5 patch release:

They have since added an option to only select accepting the same species.

The responses from Martin are perfect:

I love the way he ended that discussion. For those who don't know, Martin is the Game Director for Stellaris at Paradox. I already respected Paradox as a studio for their great games and great Linux support, but this is just icing on the cake.

They are having fun with it on their own forum too, as some more delicate petals just can't take it.

I think it's a fantastic feature to have and hopefully it will speed up my own planetary growth when other sides go to war, if I choose to accept them that is. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Know it's just a joke... but from which material build in space?
It's superscience--you just use a farce field.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroSince apparently all the content of Paradox's games reflect their views, then they must also be in favour of religious genocide, cultural assimilation, genocide of indigenous peoples, be followers of every major religion that has existed since the year ~800 concurrently, be fans of both Stalin and Hitler, colonialism, free trade, protectionism, etc.

Political correctness gone mad, something has to be done about these Marxist loons.

This motherfuckers ain't marxists.
I'm communist and i can't understand this level of stupidness about the SJWs.

Btw, it's funny how 2 or 3 comments from stupid people can make an ideology to be "loon", they don't represent us. This SJWs are just Soros puppets.
I see you're triggered about this.

Quoting: EikeI feel you missed a joke here.
Can you explain the joke? Maybe isn't funny in my country.

I will do my best, but there's probably someone who will do a better job at it than myself.
Let's see how the original post went:
1. Paradox allows controlling immigration policies
2. Some people assume that this means they are pro or anti-immigration
3. Observation: Paradox also allows controlling different policies in their games, that amount to religious genocide, cultural assimilation, genocide of indigenous peoples, colonialism, free trade, protectionism, as well as other policies
4. Therefore, following the same reasoning as 2) we can infer that they support (or are against) all those policies as well
5. Now, assume the position of a anti-Marxist person (but this could have been anything)
6. Cherry-pick a position you oppose among the ones you assume they take
7. Fire: they are Marxist loons. Attack them like they were attacked by believer of 2) to make blatantly obvious how nonsensical this reasoning is. Basically, people that fit into 2) are just making fools of themselves. This statement is supposed to be ironic.

To elaborate on 5, I will attempt to rephrase it. It works best if you use common/known arguments, and even better if those are publicly discredited, but you can really just put anything.
something has to be done about these religious zealots.
something has to be done about these racist scum.
something has to be done about these feminist vandals.
something has to be done about these capitalist bastards.
something has to be done about these fascists morons.
something has to be done about these Marxist loons.
something has to be done about these nazi jerks.

Then, I am not sure I got the joke correctly, and it was only midly amusing (that's irony, after all).

@Arkona: regardless of one's opinion, I still think it makes sense in a strategy game such as this one. That's strategy. And nothing is black or white; you have to evaluate the benefits/costs of choosing either option. Actually, I think that would make a good definition for "strategy".

Just like Segata Sanshiro was triggered by SJWs and SJWs are triggered by Stellaris.
But you only say that to me.
Are you telling me you still didn't get Sanshiro's joke? Do yourself a favour and go back and read his post again. Then go read the article to realize that it was not "SJWs" that got all delicate about the accepting-refugees option, but the other end of the spectrum--ironically, it was the sort of people who supposedly hate the idea of political correctness who wanted to police the game's language. You're getting the wrong end of the stick from going off half-cocked and assuming the facts to be the opposite of what they are and what people say to be meaning almost the opposite of what they mean.

While you're at it, if you're a communist consider not talking like some kind of alt-right type. SJWs? Really? Since when do communists rant about SJWs?

I don't get "triggered," I just find people like the one on the twitter post funny so like to laugh at them.

Yeah, that and choosing the word "Marxist" since most people who tend to hold these view (especially in the US) regard anyone to the left of Ronald Reagan to be a "godless commie" (or "left wing extremist" in this case).

Quoting: Purple Library GuySince when do communists rant about SJWs?

Marxist academics do rant about political correctness quite a lot at it. Zizek is a prime example, but obviously it's more from the "bourgeois white folk are changing language to feel less guilty about their own racism and doing so only worsens the problem, or at best sweeps it under the rug" angle rather than whatever this Dawid fellow is on about.

Hm, yes, point. I tend to feel a bit more benevolent about the whole thing. It's like, political correctness is the best non-radicals can do since the causes of the problems aren't accessible to them. Sort of like doctors without antibiotics trying to deal with a bacterial disease by treating symptoms, bringing down fever or what have you, and doing so all the more aggressively because they can't touch the underlying infection. If you can't deal with the causes, the symptoms are going to keep springing up, but what else can you do? Well, become a radical, but for a lot of people that just isn't something they've got a path to, so they're doing the best they can with the mental toolkit available.

I see that you are probably 'Murican (the "soros puppets" thing). But look closely at EU (or recently at UN) leading people. A lot of them are marxists, or at least they were quite active in communist party when they were younger.

I think M@yeulC did a good job explaining it, but here's my attempt.

These games contain lots of controversial stuff and lots of stuff that's hopefully not even controversial. The guy complaining about refugees policies turned a blind eye to all of them. He could as well called them fascists, rascists, murderers, ... Or he understands that the game is just reflecting stuff humans do or have done and does not attribute a certain cherry he picks from it to Paradox. Calling them Marxists ist just one other (semi-random) cherry on could pick.

Quoting: ArkonaIf I was you I would delete this post from the site. There are so many people who's family members and close friends were killed only in the last year, or raped, or raped and killed, who will find all this very offending.
I sincerely surprised that some publisher answer like that to people they expect to buy there's games talking about such a controversial thing.
This is also a huge black spot on this site and you should not write about such an incident. Except, of course, if you are hoping for financing from Soros and company. But I think that it's not a good idea.

It seems you are implicitly connecting regfugees to raping and murder? That's strange...

Personal view: I learned just yesterday that four flats in the house I live in are used by refugees. Didn't know there were any. My wife wasn't raped and I wasn't murered. Just met some politely greeting darker skinned people lately.

As personal view doesn't have any relevance for societies: I'm living in Germany, and as you're aware for sure, we took many refugees. Germany's rate of murder in 2015 was 40% lower than 20 years ago.
