For fans of the awesome itch.io games website, the client has been updated once again with a number of bug fixes.

image

Changes:
- Users can now clear the browser cache and cookies (in Preferences->Advanced)
- Upgrading games is now more reliable. Previously, if your local install was corrupted, patching would fail and fall back to redownloading the whole game. Now, it seamlessly redownloads only what's necessary, and continues the regular patching process.
- The downloader now takes into account a larger set of temporary network errors and should be more resilient
- Bugfix: When exiting fullscreen in web games, the app menu used to re-appear in the game's window. This is no longer the case
- Bugfix: The temporary folder passed to games is created on launch if not available (and is wiped after the game exits). Fixes all TyranoBuilder games, among others
- Bugfix: When a developer pulls a build, the app will now revert to the older build instead of getting locked into an update loop (hooray, this one was annoying me!) Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Itch.io is really growing on me. I recently purchased a game to show my support towards a dev. The amount of freeware that is available and working is a good catch. They also have multiplayer versions of games that are either single player only on STEAM or only allow 2 to 4 players while itch.io offers up to 8 players.

There are a lot of devs on there using Linux too. I hope that it gets even more support.

I really wish the client would detect that I'm running Linux, and stop offering me non-Linux games in the frontpage. Out of the 10 "Recommended for you" games, only half of them have the penguin icon. The ratio is even lower in the "Latest featured games" section. Admittedly it took Steam a while to start separating like that, but I'd hope Itch would learn from Valve's mistakes.

Reading about Raft on RPS reminded me about this article. I updated itch, installed Raft, and re-re-re-installed I am the Captain, (which at long last works on Linux, thank Almighty Tux).

Itch is incrementally getting better, though it refuses to maintain my "dark" theme on any other page but the first, and the font size is still inexcusably microscopic and unadjustable. At the very least they could allow the user to take the font size from the system default.

I see the itch client is on GitHub. I have no idea how to code jack-diddly-squat, but my annoyance with this unnecessary annoyance is rapidly inspiring me to learn enough to fork it so I can read without straining my eyes into a new set of glasses.

Itch on my 55" 1920x1080 Panasontic TV that's ~ 10 ft/3 meters away

Grrrrrr and Humbug!

Your wish is my command. I've just pushed out an update that will only show games that are available for your platform on the app's homepage. Tell me if you can think of any other things to change.

I'm a little ashamed we didn't do this sooner since I even do all my development on linux.

This is freaking great! Excellent work. I picked up 1 title from itch awhile back now this makes it so much easier to get others!

That is marvellous, and looking at the client now it seems to work perfectly. Thanks for your attention to this.

Come to think of it, leafo, there is one little quality of life thing I noticed that could use addressing sometime. When I go into, say, Linux games, there's a sidebar with various options. When I look at a game's page from there, I get a sidebar on the other side with the "Install" or "Buy now" buttons and so forth. But if I hit the back button, the game's sidebar remains and the search options sidebar doesn't come back. The only way to restore it is to go back to the front page again, and hit Linux games all over again.

Not the biggest priority or anything, but I think it would facilitate searching and checking things out a bit more if that were taken care of.
