Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais has tweeted out asking for information on Linux games that don't currently work with radeonsi.

Is anyone maintaining a list of Linux games that don't work on radeonsi? GL compatibility context, extensions Mesa won't implement, etc.

— Pierre-Loup Griffais (@Plagman2) January 9, 2017

I'm sure a few of you have a list of games you know don't work, so why not let them know. They might be able to help Mesa get the games running.

Valve actually hired Samuel Pitoiset, a Mesa developer to work on radeonsi (source):

Samuel PitoisetThis is my last contribution for the Nouveau driver for a while because I have been hired by Valve to work on radeonsi. Do not expect such perf improvements with radeonsi because it already performs really well, unlike Nouveau. But with time and patience we can do better. :-)

So it's quite likely this list will make its way to Samuel to work through.

If anyone wants to keep a public list, I have setup a Wiki page for it.

Dying Light is not working due to compatibility context in Mesa.

Any chance offending games may be reported through other channels other than tweeter?

Steam forum? Mail?

I've got a few of them:

- Crookz
- Grand ages: Medieval
- Dying Light (compatibility profile)
- Dead Island (except for the Ryder campaign, which surprisely works fine)

Sry but arent valve suppos to know this?
This is good news, but it seems like valve shouldnt really need to ask this, they should know.

See the wiki page in the original post, I'm sure Liam can send it to Valve later.

As for the games, make sure that you actually report bugs upstream: https://bugs.freedesktop.org

I see no entries at all for Crookz or Grand Ages there. Mesa devs can't fix bugs they aren't aware of.

Does this one count? Issue happens with oibaf PPA.

Battleblock theater not launching on AMDGPU-Pro or AMDGPU. Linux Mint 18.

void* memory block::Alloc(unsigned int): (! Assertion `got request for zero bytes!" ) failed.
Aborted.

wow - the idea of ATI as a viable gaming rig alternative is really gaining traction now! Love it!

So Valve is working both on the amdgpu kernel driver as well on userspace Mesa? Something tells me there is more going on than Valve just wanting to help AMD. Are they working on some piece of hardware?

Can confirm that (mesa 13.1 RX 480)

Yeah, the only thing I don't want AMD to die is because of intel. I don't think ARM would enter the desktop and server market if AMD would die. Otherwise they could die, I always preferred Nvidia anyways...

Grand Ages: Medieval and Crookz seem more like llvm symbol conflicts, not mesa crashes. At least that's what I get from the log. I am incapable of properly hunt llvm or use trace so I guess my bug report would be not too useful.

[Just to clarify, I have opened and contributed to other bug reports. It's just that llvm compiling and tracing is too much for me and my limited free time]

I have a long list of non working games, but please don't ask me to register to the wiki too!
TheRiddick Jan 9, 2017
Just keep in mind with such a list you need to specify the exact Mesa build version (and LLVM obviously) along with some basic system/os information because it seems some games work on older MESA vs Newer at varying times during its development which is likely to cause some confusion...

Wish I could contribute to a 'LIST' report but no AMD card atm (waiting for VEGA).

Approaching Laminar for proper X-Plane 10 (and upcoming 11) mesa support would also be great.

So please post them here with Mesa and LLVM version.

Just a reminder. On Mint you should also let the system update its kernels (which they officially not really recommend), cause there were a lot of fixes for the radeon and amdgpu driver.

About Crookz:
If you search the steam hub of the game you can find a fix that I found for the problem, it's the usual compatibility profile problem.
