As promised, Topware Interactive have released a Linux beta of X-Blades on Steam that uses Wine to make it easy for you.
It's an open beta for anyone who owns the game on Steam. You need this code in Steam's beta properties for the game "xbladestestbetalinux".
Again, it's great to see an older game come to Linux using Wine. As long as it works and it works well I don't really care what it uses. When it comes to no game or a Wine-port that works well, I choose a Wine port of course. The fact that it counts now as a Linux sale and it's all setup for you is great.
About the game
In brief: An anime-style, opulent hack n' slay spectacle for fans of entertaining action games. X-Blades creates a fantastic universe around the attractive heroine, who has to fend off innumerable monsters and imposing boss opponents with her power and tactics. A long list of all sorts of magic spells widens the range of potential forms of attack. Once Ayumi has collected enough experience points, she can activate new skills. The anime-style level design is what really gives X-Blades its special flair. Around 40 magical indoor and outdoor worlds dazzle in an enthralling rhapsody of color. Action and magical effects are impressively incorporated through the use of cinema stylistics such as bullet time or motion blurring.

I like how Topware is slowly porting (in wine, but still!) their entire catalog. This is a good move and more developers should follow for the games that are old and/or can't to receive a native port, but work great in Wine. I know you can always use wine yourself, but here you have it officially supported from the native client that counts as both Linux Steam in case hardware survey pops and as a purchase for developers info.
Just look here for the reference, here's all TopWare games in SteamDB - just to see what they have ported and what's possibly to come :) - SteamDB

This is Wine used in the right way. It should be used by developers/publishers, the use of Wine by end-users themselves is only an emergency solution if nothing else can prevent them from installing Windows.

Great example of how to use Wine by Topware Games again!
Like these old games,we don't need a native port.We just want to play them without effort for Wine builds and settings
Like that,Cdpr must have a Wine Port of Witcher1

greate for linux gaming but sorry i couldnt count this as linux sale. İ dont want developpers to hide behind WİNE and say we are making games for linux withouth actually coding them for to natively run under linux.
else i have to thank blizzard cuz publishing Linux games out of the box. .s.s

X Blades is an eight year old game. Are you actually thinking that game has a chance to get native Linux port?
I too prefer native ports in new games but it's better than nothing.

Initially really good start , game opened, shows a settings screen, then a game menu => New game, started the training stage.
Moving , jumping , did some fighting. Added a Skill. Esc brings up the skills menu. I wanted to exit the game but I could not see how to do it.
Issues
1. I got a game lock up (screen freeze) on pressing Alt-Tab, I could drop to the console and got out that way.
2. Small graphics glitch - missing bits of the face and parts of the hair bands.

No, the usage of Wine is for everyone and especially for older titles / games / software with no chance of being ported.

The game certainly looked decent with all the settings turned up, but as soon as I started playing, it went bonkers with the Steam controller. When I went into the menu to adjust controls, it started showing artifacts and giving me Windows 95 mouse trails.

X-Blades is now out of beta.
Additionally, World War II: Panzer Claws was just released for GNU/Linux, by the same publisher.
