Croteam have put up a very nice blog post about all their games and it seems all of them are coming to Linux now and with Vulkan too.

They start off by blabbing on about VR in Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope which we don't have yet, so I won't bore you with the details on that.

The key thing here is that they will be doing what they're calling the "Serious Sam Fusion 2017 update" which all games will get, this big update includes:
- All games now support SteamOS/Linux/OSX!
- Split-screen!
- Full support for all controllers including Steam controller, PS4 gamepads, all older DInput joysticks
- 64bit executables
- Support for Vulkan API (DirectX9 is now being removed; so long and thanks for all the bugs)
- Multithreaded rendering
- Proper multimonitor support
- Borderless window support
- Much better modding support with customizable weapons and items, improved scripting (including better support for scripting networked games)
- And More!

They also confirmed they will be doing The Talos Principle VR, SSVR: The Second Encounter and Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE. Not only that, but Serious Sam 4 is still going to happen too.

Also, as a teaser, Pierre-Loup Griffais from Valve shared this:

Early Serious Sam VR and SteamVR builds are coming along nicely on RADV + AMDGPU stack! pic.twitter.com/fpRQObSqOe

For those who can't put it together, "RADV + AMDGPU" is the open source AMD Vulkan driver for Linux.

Thanks to Malakun and Edwin in our Telegram group for the links.

Croteam are freaking awesome.

Well, that's interesting, really. As some of you might aware, the original Serious Sam games was re-released, remade, re-ported many times.

Here are the ones on Steam:

- Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter
- Serious Sam Classic: The Second Encounter

- Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

- Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter
- Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter

- Serious Sam VR: The First Encounter

SSC:TFE and SSC:TSE are unmaintained for years, I hardly expect any Linux support for them. SSC:R aims to merge TFE and TSE by using original engine with modern features as well as Steam integration; it's still in early access and being developed by another indie team, Alligator Pit.

As SS HD series and SS3:BFE uses Serious Engine 3 and 3.5 respectively; I expect HD series to be ported into GNU/Linux. Ryan C. Gordon (icculus) re-ported the Classic games into Linux recently but incompetent me could not compile it...

That's really awesome! I really like these guys, they are awesome developers.

I feel nostalgic about Serious Sam 1 and 2 and I recently bought SS3. Playing these on Vulkan sounds like a really promising experience!

Wow, so many good news lately! I have a serious hunch that 2017 will be the Year of Linux...

Wow! Croteam are doing amazing stuff for Linux gaming. I've never played any of the Serious Sam games, but now may be the time to start on the series; and don't get me started about Vulkan and 64-bit executables...

YAY!!!!!

Massive fan of the Serious Sam franchise. Pretty much own all of it, all the games and DLC.

Played approx 70 hours of Serious Sam 3 BFE, last year. Really enjoyed it. Played Jewel of the Nile DLC on 'Serious' level and completed it.

Serious Sam 3 BFE coming to Vulkan - WOW!

All the other titles coming to Linux with Vulkan - WOW x2 !

A big thumbs up :)

I don't understand, how is that tweet from Valve a teaser on VR on Linux? It doesn't say it's on Linux? Or is this dude dedicated to Linux development?

I'll take ANY indication that it really is on the way, so please all I need is an excuse for me to interpret it that way :)

It says "RADV + AMDGPU", which is the open source AMD Vulkan driver stack on Linux. So, yeah, basically it's on Linux ;)

Talos is actually the perfect kind of game for VR. It's not heavy on action and perspective plays a huge role. I wish more companies would announce updates like this.
