The good news I have for you is that the multiplayer will be cross platform with Windows, which will make the online modes that much more satisfying for us. Up to four players can race online together.
At release it will be priced at £39.99/$59.99/€49.99. Not a cheap game, but well worth it. I have very fond memories of playing rally games on my original Playstation as a child.
From the press release:
Quote“DiRT Rally captures the essence of rally racing with an advanced handling model, giving players a thrillingly authentic simulation,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “Whether players are splashing through water in bucolic Wales or getting to grips with the snow in Sweden, they’ll need to adapt their style to stay ahead. This is rally racing at the next level.”
About the game
In DiRT Rally, the official game of the FIA Rallycross Championship, players take the wheel of the world’s most iconic rally cars, including the MINI Cooper S and the Lancia Delta S4. They will need to choose the right tools, strategy and team to master events in over 70 stages across Greece, Wales, Monte Carlo, Germany, Finland and Sweden. Each race offers up a new challenge with a range of environments such as muddy paths, dusty trails and snow-laden tracks, as well as a variety of weather types.
Career mode forms the core of the game: players start on the bottom rung of the rally ladder and compete in a series of championships. As they work their way up to the top division, they’ll earn in-game money, which they can use to buy new cars. The tough nature of off-road racing in DiRT Rally means that players will need to hire a team of engineers to repair their vehicles between stages. As players drive a vehicle in events, their engineers will unlock upgrades that unleash the full potential of the car.
Events take place across three different disciplines; as well as point-to-point Rally races, players can also tackle the tight and mixed-surface circuits of Rallycross and the challenging course of Hillclimb.
Players can dive straight into the action, or fine-tune their car's setup to suit the track, weather and their personal driving style. They can even make manual adjustments to their car’s brake bias, level of damping, gear ratio and more.

Great news again, Feral! I already own all your other Gnu/Linux ports and I will definitely go for this one as well (from the Feral store, not Steam) ;) Thanks!

No probs! If you're planning to get a racing wheel specifically for DiRT Rally, I'd suggest waiting until we announce what wheels will be supported, but of course it's totally up to you.
Thanks for the advice, I wanted to upgrade so I'll just stick with the old G25 until you announce support ;)

Day one purchase for me. Been waiting for this game for a long time. I guess it's time to start shopping for a wheel.

Haha Spacious Skies, finally the reveal. Can't wait for the game, my pc and racing wheel is ready to go. Keep up the awesome ports Feral you guys rock :)
Now all we need on Linux is a good Hero shooter, a soccer/football game for the masses and a fighting game. So BattleBorn being 2K & Gearbox is our best bet, PES2017 given FIFA isn't on Linux and MacOS should help their numbers quite a bit and here's hoping Feral can pick up Bandai Namco as a publisher this year because I'm a huge Tekken fan and Tekken 7 is coming this year to Windows already and is using Unreal 4 so why not. Not to mention all the other Bandai Namco titles that could follow.
I've already bought the Bandai Namco bundle hoping they'll become aware of Linux as a market as THQ did back in the day with their first bundle, besides the bundle has one game for Linux so all is not lost. Here's hoping :)

Unfortunately I already got this game for free from the Humble Store in the past. I'll buy one/a bunch of them for my friends (and of course make sure it's counted as a Linux Sale).
@Feral: It's always counted as a Linux Sale if I buy it in your Store under the Linux section? Also in Steam? Does it matter on which system I do redeem the key and play the Game?

Oh yes! Spacious skies, you'll be mine! :)
Looking forward to test the Steam Controller gyro on this one! It makes an awesome steering wheel in Grid Autosport.

This is great! I have been waiting for this announcement for a long time. No longer do I have to dual boot to my Windows partition in order to play Dirt Rally :) . My only concern is that the Linux system requirements might be too much for my computer (dual core i3 processor, low level Nvidia GPU card). At the moment this game only runs on my computer with all details set to low or very low (and this is on Windows).
Well, maybe this is the perfect excuse for me to buy and build a new computer :D

gaaah!!! I want to play now! NOW!!
Well to be a bit more serious about it. Been waiting for this one for very long, so glad its finaly here :D.
But I guess we can expect the game to be playble on Linux, until all Cheetah's have left the building and the last person there is the janitor.
And he wont press that Go button that makes the game run on linux in a sec, until he's done with his coffe and are done with the last rounds.
Life is unfair, imagen having those powers :P

I've been waiting for this one. Racing without opponents is more my thing.
With the recent announcement of DiRT 4, so I wonder if they have an option on doing that one as well.
Wheel support should be predictable. All Logitech wheels should work with full force feedback on this one. If it's anything less, Feral should have me fix whatever is wrong in the driver quickly! :D

I want to be excited, but Grid Autosport taught me that I can't drive. Beautiful, amazing game, and all I can do do is spin and crash my way through the game. Here's hoping for a good arcade racer.

I don't see the relation between "Spacious Skies" and Dirt Rally

Hmm, personally I am not into racing games at all, cause I just suck at them (I played Mario Cart on my Wii last weekend and got defeated by easy AI), but I know a lot of people like racing games, and if this title gets the same Feral-Love than the other ports, I am happy for the Linux gaming community, and that is also worth something!
Happy racing to you all :D

Have you tried Dirt Showdown? That's quite Arcade to me and real fun. :)

Great, after the launch I won't need to use wine with Dirt 3 anymore.
Thanks Feral.

Thanks for your support. If you buy from the Feral Store it will be counted as a Linux sale. If you buy elsewhere that gets a bit more complicated, but rest assured that we have arrangements with our partners to make sure everything's counted appropriately.
