Feral Interactive have officially announced their next Linux port and it's going to be 'HITMAN' [Steam]. Another awesome game for our platform. This is the complete first season too, so we get plenty of content.

They plan to release Hitman for Linux on Thursday 16th of February, so be sure mark your calendars.

This is amazing, as we get Civilization VI from Aspyr Media, Hitman and then DiRT Rally both from Feral Interactive in the space of about a month. All three games I'm incredibly excited to see on Linux, as all of them big franchises for us to have to keep moving forward.

I told you this year was going to be good, so don't doubt me eh!

I'm nearly out of hard-drive space, I'm actually going to have to buy an new hard drive just for games, on Linux, insanity.

David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral InteractiveHitman is a franchise that has defined the stealth genre, and this game is very much a return to the series’ roots. It’s been a long wait to get a Hitman title onto Linux, but I can’t think of a better way than this to introduce the series to Linux gamers.

Feral have confirmed it will be an OpenGL title, so no Vulkan at launch. Of course, it's entirely possible they may update it in future to use Vulkan.

It will cost £39.99/$59.99/€49.99 for the whole season, but episodes can be purchased individually.

About the game
Become the master assassin in an intense spy-thriller story across a world of assassination.
Travel the world from France, Italy & Morocco to Thailand, USA & Japan to take out powerful, high-profile targets.

- Complete freedom of approach in expansive freeform classic HITMAN levels
- 100+ hours of gameplay will challenge the creativity of all assassins
- Create your own hits and compete with other assassins in Contracts mode Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I loved the first few Hitman games. They have always been the standard by which I judge all FPS's. I normally can't stand FPSs but the closer they are to Hitman, the more I enjoy them.

You can keep hoping but Witcher 3 is not happening

Why do you think so?

I agree there's no hope for CDPROJEKT to port it themselves, but why wouldn't they license it to a third party developer?

For many reasons one if they were going to do it they would of done it when they released the game of the year edition. Secondly community reaction to the Ion port Witcher 2 it got battered cd projekct got bombarded with complaints about the port they really did not have anything to do with. The big one though is the way that linux publishing works it a little different from software company to software company but essentially they pay for the port be via royalties on every copy sold or a flat fee.I believe Cd have looked at the costs of hiring Fereal/Aspyr to do the port and the number of sales they project and decided that it does not make financial sense. I hope am wrong but i just don't think they see it as viable if it were to come to linux am guessing it would be on licence fee and then it would be up to feral/asypr to decide if worth it.

Will the Episode 1 be FREE, like they did with Life is Strange?

Now, Feral, be good and port Rise of the Tomb Raider if you want my money.

Kind of doubt it first episode on windows was just shy of ten pounds/dollars then each episode was 6/7 pounds/dollars be cool if they did though.

I thought all the Hitman games were third person.

mostly third person you can go into fps mode in a couple of the games however

Yup blows my mind there are so many games on liunx now i remember back just five years ago it was quake 3 or games based on dark places engine and mostly crappy indie games. Now we actually get triple A releases not all of them but a fair number finally giving some people a reason to delete that windows gaming partition.

Another great and prestige release by Feral, much respect.

I, however, wouldn't touch another Hitman title by IO Interactive/Square Enix after the huge disappointment that Hitman: Absolution was, story wise as well as gameplay wise. I'd rather wish that Blood Money gets released on GOG.com eventually.

Ouch! $60USD is usually converted to $80 for Canadians, I really want to pick this up for Linux... but I know that this will have a 50% discount before I get around to playing it...

Super Bunnyhop's review already had me interested in this game:

Dissapointed by Absolution really I personally loved it. The extremely weird sisters level was pointless but enjoyed the rest of the game.

Remember its 60 for the full first season if they are offering per episode its 10 bucks so you can see if you actually like the game before planting the cash down also if you can get through the epilogue in about 1 hr 30 minutes so in plenty of time for the steam refund window.

And just TODAY I thought my 500 GB SSD is enough.
Thanks for getting me broke, Feral.

I would trade this a thousand times over for a naive Doom 4 port, with Vulkan...

To clarify, we haven't announced what our first Vulkan game will be, nor a timescale of spring. We're aiming to get a Vulkan game out in the first half of this year.

If you got Vulkan tangled up with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, that's because we talked about Vulkan during a Deus Ex: Mankind Divided live stream. Which was nice and confusing, woo.
True, true, sorry for mixing it up. I was on the Twitch chat during that stream but I don't remember the exact words.

Here's the GOL source: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/feral-interactives-linux-ports-may-come-with-vulkan-sooner-than-we-thought-updated.8418

P.S.
First half of the year and Spring are kinda the same since the first day of Summer is June 20 :P

I'm reading that this game has always-online crap DRM, which makes it completely out of the question to buy it. Is this the case, @Feral ?

D'oh! I haven't played them since Contracts was new so please forgive my foggy memory. You are correct. They're still the bar by which I judge all shooters though.
