The developers of 'Hyper Sentinel' [Kickstarter, Official Site] have confirmed on Twitter that their retro throwback will support Linux and at my request they now list it on their Kickstarter too. Below the platform and console logos it now says:

QuoteSteam version will include Windows, Linux & Mac.

Alan Pope tagged us in a Twitter post about it, as he is the one who originally asked about Linux support. I decided to prod a bit further and ask about the demo they just put out. The demo doesn't yet support Linux, but they will be getting to it:

@gamingonlinux @popey I'm afraid not, we've not been able to test that fully just yet, but we will get onto it asap

They are seeking £15,000 with a tidy £5,193 already pledged. They have ample time left with 29 days of funding still to go, so it looks like they could easily hit their target.

Still, I don't recommend backing it until they can at least produce a demo for our platform. Too many times we've had confirmation of a Linux version, for the developer to run into issues due to not regularly testing it.

It's weird they don't mention Uridium, since that's exactly the game their throwback is throwing back to. I just fired up Uridium again the other day for a spin, and daaang it's smooth.

I played the hell out of Uridium on the C-64, and Hyper Sentinel does seem very similar. This style of arcade gaming just doesn't appeal to me anymore, but as an influence Uridium isn't the worst.

It was the definition of smoothness to us back then!

Yep, that's Uridium on steroids, brought to you by none other than Steven Hewson, the same Steven Hewson from
Hewson Consultants, responsible for Cybernoid, Exolon, and many others.

Aw, man, my brain's never quite had the FPS for Uridium...
