More possible good news today. It seems Knockout Games might be doing the porting work of Killing Floor 2 [Steam, Official Site] for Linux.

I had an email tip about a conversation the one-man porting studio Knockout Games had on Twitter. It seemed to hint that Aaron was porting Killing Floor 2 and it's actually listed on his website now too.

He couldn't give me any details over Twitter when I asked other than the fact that he is working on Killing Floor 2 (source):
QuoteI am working on KF2. Not sure what I am doing is announced so can't speak to it.

Out of respect, I won't prod Aaron any more on this. I have contacted Tripwire directly to see if they fancy confirming it properly.

It would be great to see, since it was confirmed for Linux so long ago. Will you pick up a copy when it releases for Linux? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

QuoteI had an email tip
You're welcome ;)

I would pick up a copy for sure. There have been many sales for KF2 already, but I was able to resist. Will pick up a copy as soon as it releases for Linux. Aaron is doing great porting work, so the port, if it comes, will probably be technically flawless.

+1 on that.I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. And with Aaron working on the port, I'm sure it'll be spectacular.
It isn't my style of game, but I am glad to see Aaron still doing more ports!

I already bought it in early access, when I still used Windows (I already get rid of it) for gaming. Didn't played it since I switched to Linux as a gaming OS.

I will be glad to see it on Linux, I spent many hours in KF1.

Right now, I'm playing one of Knockout Games earlier ports - Shadow Warrior (2013) - and it's playing very nicely (at 4K resolution). "Good job!"

Provided it's a decent quality port, I'd definitely pick this up. It might be a forlorn hope, as it's had a rough ride through Early Access, but if there's a hope that it grabs me like the first one did, then I'd have many hundreds of happy hours ahead of me playing this. It would fill the void that PayDay 2 left when I realised that their voice chat would never be fixed and I gave up on playing it any further (and funny to think that they're still punting DLC at their player base... sigh)

Aaron is a great porter (take note Feral). Looking forward to pick this up when it's released.

Hmm... now the Killing Floor 2 entry on Aaron's Website has been replaced by Flywrench.
Looks like Tripwire didn't like that he had this entry on his website.
I hope this didn't cause any trouble.

edit: oh, also the tweet got deleted.

Flywrench and N++ were there before, but yeah, he's deleted KF2. Might not be bad news as such, just that TW didn't want him "revealing" the possibility of a port before they're ready.

Would be a shame if they've really canned their interest in a Linux version. They spoke about Linux at length back in their 2014 announcement and they've taken a lot of heat on the forums since when they lost their sole Linux developer. To the point that you can't actually comment on threads on Steam's Killing Floor 2 pages unless you own the game. Nice way to shut up annoying Linux users from moaning about a lack of port!

Fingers crossed, but I pretty much scratched this off my wishlist last year. It would be a lovely surprise if it comes our way, but I'm not holding my breath!
