Timothee Besset sent word that Rocket League [Steam] has now been updated to fix some issues Mesa users were having with radeonsi.
You can see the original bug report here.
TTimo was speaking about it in our IRC and it has now released going by this tweet. It was an issue in the game, so a Mesa update isn't needed.
This should give AMD gamers a much better experience on Linux, as you shouldn't get big stuttering or hangs especially at the start of a game. This issue affected quite a number of people, especially when we play with community during our livestreams so it's pleasing to see it finally fixed.
To celebrate, I will likely include it in my livestream tonight and play with the community.

Yesterday I played a lot of Rocket League. Still got a few crashes (using Nvidia proprietary driver). Hope they will fix these too. My friends on windows often take the chance for some doubtfully remarks about Linux.
I wonder if the Linux version is still considered to be in beta? They never put a word on that again after the initial release.

It is still in beta as far as I'm concerned. I'm still waiting for an update that will allow me to hear the game's audio.

Such a great new! So what about last patches of Marek: are they still needed?

Whoah, it actually works! Finally, I won't need to boot to windows to play some ranked games!

Ironically, the freezes are now longer and occur more often for me. (rx480 + amdgpu + mesa 13.0.4 on 4.9.7 kernel). Maybe thats just coincidence since all the games Ive been joining lately Ive been getting dropped in during a goal instant replay. which runs smooth after a small hiccup, and then when the countdown to kickoff starts, the game freezes until 5-10 seconds after kickoff. and then inevitably someone rage quits because they got scored on, and the game freezes another 5-10 seconds. So it might not be "worse", but the freezes are still definitely there.
Do I need mesa 17, or kernel 4.10, or is this just not actually shipped everywhere yet? `find -mtime -7` seems to indicate no files in the rocket league folder have changed in the past week on my machine :(

Same here. Now running fabulously on an all-AMD rig. Very thankful for the fix. Sorry for those who still have issues.

The game patch isn't shipped yet.
If you want that mesa fix you need mesa from git or apply this patch https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/138047/ by yourself to mesa 13/17
