Croteam has stated on their forum that Serious Sam 3: BFE [Steam] running on their new Fusion engine which uses Vulkan could arrive in public Beta as early as next month.
From their forum post:
Quote[..]There are no official deadlines, but my hope is that Fusion version of SS3 would enter public beta in the next month or so.
For those that don't remember, Croteam are updating all of the Serious Sam games to their new "Fusion" game engine. This newer game engine will be using Vulkan and it sounds like a big win for Linux, as all the Serious Sam games will support Linux thanks to this.
Thanks for the link mphuZ93.

Quoting: g000hI notice quite often that Game Comment Threads seem to get subverted into threads arguing about Steam or GOG or itch.io or completely unrelated material.
Please could commenting about these non-Game things go into a separate Forum post or Article.
I agree. It's always the same discussion...

Quoting: GuestI know, but obviously Shmerl cares
About what I wrote above. That GOG are pushing DRM-free gaming, and Steam do zilch about it.

Desiring games to appear on GOG is obviously about DRM side of things since they have a strict policy about that. I don't care what store Talos Principle or Serious Sam will be released on, but I want it DRM-free.

They're doing very good job on Windows and Mac,great for them. I'm just pointing that how silly is to, try to push Croteam about putting their games to GOG and worshipping to a platform which didn't care Linux a bit.
If you want some drm-free,there is Itch.io. I'm sick of that people treating to GOG like they're the only defender and saviour of drm-free. Urgh...
But all i see is,worshipping to GOG. Dude, seriously why?

If you want to be formalistic, itch.io accept DRMed games. GOG don't. They are a minority on itch, but still. But this is not the main point here as before, since Croteam aren't releasing their games anywhere outside of Steam. Neither GOG, nor itch.io or Humble. As some suggested above, that's because their games are multiplayer (I never played them, so I had no clue). And rely on Steamworks. In such case they are locked into Steam. That's what makes quite a lot of games Steam exclusives.

Then i can suggest you to push Croteam to publish their Drm free versions through their website. If it works for you.
I know itch's policy,it's all up to publisher. Like Cdpr's doing. They're the publishers and everything up to them,Windows,Mac support etc.

I'm really dying for more discussion about Vulkan being used in more games and that more Serious Sam (albeit older) games are coming to Linux... isn't that exciting?!! :D

Looking forward to testing this. So much good stuff being done, hard to keep up! Not that I'm complaining though! :D

So, my brother and I played SS3:BFE split screen and two player and I have to say that Croteam isn't one of those lame companies that make a PC game be only single player or online gaming only just so they can sell more copies. The performance on my 980GTX was fantastic, so not sure what cards everyone who was suffering from OpenGL performance have. But either way, a higher performing engine maybe so that if I ever go 4k I can still get awesome split screen action with vulkan is fine by me!
