Sudden Strike 4 looks like an amazing RTS that will have Linux support

Agreed, I'm bad at these too and have avoided them for years as a result, but this looked seriously impressive and I might be tempted, if for no other reason than to support the day 1 Linux release (love Linux listed at the end of the trailer too).

This game looks great, but what I'd like to see is something along the lines of Myth... Loved that game! Loki released Myth 2 for Linux at one point. It's one of the few RTS games that you don't just manufacture your troops, and you have to try to keep them alive because they level up as you progress through the story. Definitely adds an epic level of difficulty, and fun. Most RTS games you just don't care about your troops because you can churn out more, probably why I haven't really gotten into any of them. Warwind by SSI was another great game (though for some reason it performed rather poorly back when the second was released, and a guy I know... *laughs* said that SSI doesn't make very good strategy games. Oh how I miss SSI...)

Guys, why do you think it will come to Linux? There are no mentions of Linux on their site.

Only Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Mac and SteamOS. No mention of Linux.

Perhaps, but I'm not pedantic enough to truly care all that much. It's still a strategy game, that's played in real time (with optional pause in single-player). We don't know if the online modes will have any base building or resource system, as they haven't said.

I must be pedantic, because I can't stand RTT, but I love RTS. I was born as zerg and zerging is the way I live. You can't obviously zerg in RTT:/

I have to agree. Knowing the difference between tactics and strategy can help determine which games you are more likely to enjoy. For instance, Dawn of War II was a bit of a let down for me because I was expecting a strategy game (it's mostly tactics though).

Well, if it is a trolling on my part, it is not a trolling per se. The core idea is: the game is not planned for Linux. It is planned for Valve's "SteamOS".

SteamOS /= Linux

SteamOS just happens to be a small subset of Linux-based distributions. For now. And at the same time while the Linux kernel and most distributions are GPL-ed, SteamOS with its "Steam Big Picture" (or something like that) is Valve's proprietary product. What will happen when Valve replaces Linux kernel with BSD and close their product?

Don't you see the writing on the wall?
1) Valve intentionally removed Linux logo replacing it with Steam logo;
2) Steam controller is unusable without Steam;
3) Linux -> SteamOS+Linux (note the order) -> SteamOS. Silent replacement of the brand.

Gabe Newell was a Microsoft employee! I mean, that, 1992, Bill's Microsoft, not the current one. Embrace, Extend, Extinguish tactics is in his blood, I'm sure.

Of course they state that. It is MUCH easier to say SteamOS, than it is to say Debian/Ubuntu/Arch/Fedora/OpenSuSE/etc...

Considering the fact that all of the closed source bits are written for Linux userland in mind... do you really think at this stage they would switch to a BSD kernel and have to run it with the Linux compatibility layer?

Especially network/multiplayer games. You know, the ones that can't play against Mac users because of some of the platform specific differences?
