The open source racer SuperTuxKart is aiming to get on Steam before Greenlight is closed, so be sure to give it a vote.
SuperTuxKart is inspired by Diddy Kong Racing, The Mario Kart series and Crash Team Racing and it's come along really well in the last year or two.
I am hopeful they will finish up the networking support, as it really would be a fantastic game to play with the community. They say it's their top priority, but actually coding online play isn't all that easy, so I wish them the best with that.
Current features
- Open source and cross platform (Windows, MacOSX, Linux)
- 20 tracks to unlock in the story mode + 4 battle arenas
- 15 unique characters inspired by open source software mascots
- Various game modes such as Grand Prix, Ghost Race, Follow the Leader, Egg Hunt, and more
- Split screen multiplayer allowing up to 4 people to play on the same screen
- Create your own tracks, characters and share them with the community
- A Grand Prix editor allowing for custom cup creation
If you didn't know already, Steam Greenlight is to be closed soon to make way for Steam Direct, where developers may have to pay per-game for each title released on Steam.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Yes! I love this game and have been playing it on Steam for about 6 months with the add library feature.
I laugh when I log in and get a friendly, 'Don't forget to play SuperTuxKart!'. Oh, I won't ; )

Another open-source game on Steam? I don't get it: It only shows up where the major problem is ... people only pay when having a game on their shiny, proprietary platform. In fact this is one worse signal: Instead getting support with donations, ideas, documentation and code, many open-source projects just copy and involve proprietary services. A change of paradigms is therefore very far away and the local installation is nothing more than another "Windows" or "MacOS" bound to many external services!
