I had to rub my eyes a bit at this, Eschalon: Book I is officially 10 years old! It is also now completely free to download and play. Officially, it hits 10 years in November, but the developer wanted to put it up for free a little early.

On top of that Book II & III have had their prices reduced!

I played it and didn't reach the end either....it's an excellent game though. Great attitude from the developer.

It's been years since I played it, in the dark days before the Humble Bundles and Steam, but it's well worth picking up again.

Yeah. I'd already bought it as well, a couple of years ago. It was already sitting in my GOG library. Played it, enjoyed it and finished it. Shared the "Free" link with a bunch of gamer friends.
One of the earliest RPG games I played on Linux. Before that, usually I was using Windows for RPG gaming.

Wow, 10 year...
Bought Eschalon Book I and II directly from Basilisk when they were first released. Never finished them though. They are beautiful games nonetheless and I don't regret having bought them at release.

I have played it, I don't know if first or the second, and I was quite disappointed. Weak RPG elements, weak story and horrible controls. The turn-based system is nice, but having to click all the time I wanted to move by one point was tedious.
Additionally, the world was quite empty, I expected a lot of interactions, but most interactions were just killing stuff, which was basically if diablo was turn-based and without flashy spells.
I certainly see why some people might like it, but I missed either interesting character development in the sense of skills and abilities or
more interesting and interactive world.

I have had this game for years, but have never gotten the time to play it. Then again, I have tons of games that are the same way, doesn't help that I picked up playing Dungeon Master again, now that some bad ass patched it to work on the Atari TT030...
So many fun things to waste my time on, which ends up making me not learn a programming language...
