Update: They have now updated their news here, you can ask for a refund. This is why I feel it's always worth pointing out, we cannot let developers break promises and think nothing of it.
Developer Gloomywood is another one to enter our naughty books, as they promised a Linux version of 2Dark during their crowdfunding. They have now release a Windows version, that has Denuvo DRM and they claim no Linux version is planned.
Their crowdfunding campaign clearly said in terms that could not be confusing to anyone:
From their forum post:
I do urge you to post in there if you're disappointed by their broken promise, we need to stop developers getting away with things like this. Just remember to be polite about it, manners cost nothing.
Naughty, naughty developers. Their crowdfunding campaign never mentioned they would be using any form of DRM either.

QuoteWhat platform will the game be for?
We are currently creating a version of 2Dark forPC, Mac and Linux. We may also create a version for console or tablet, but we can't make any promises about that right now.

QuoteHello guys,
Sorry, but there is no Linux version planned yet: /.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Judging this thread here, there will be no DRM-Free versions of any kind either.
The publisher is a straight up close-minded one that thinks Denuvo and DRM is the key to ensure a studio remains in business. I can only say one thing to that, I hope karma gets them.

This is probably due to their deal with publisher bigben interactive, apparently they forgot to check the crowdfunding promises when signing the dotted line...
Absolutely inexcusable. Compare this to how obsidian treated their backers when signing a publisher deal: Pillars of eternity got released on gog fine despite paradox entertainment refusing to publish there nowadays.

Pyramid scheme. Consumer rights watchdogs should be all over crowdfunding. Perhaps its time for someone to create a portfolio of all the lies and false claims to start class action.
At this point I wouldn't care if that led crowd funders to drop linux because they were not sure if they could deliver, at least you don't get ripped off and lied too.

I am always surprised that there are no legal implications for this kind of behaviour. This is simply fraud, isn't it?

Does this epic book of shame actually exist? Do we have a list of kickstarter projects that were funded well and didn't deliver a promised linux version? Maybe it should be brought to the attention of kickstarter themselves, in public.
For our community, I really think it would be wise to only talk about kickstarter projects that at least show some initiative. A demo or a build job as proof of care.

Then again, paradox is probably one of the best-karma pubishers in the world :)

Well, this is a book of shame, but not a failed-kickstarter-linux-promises one.
I just crossread it and there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of kickstarter projects inside at all.

Pfff, one more... No wonder why players can be naggy at time, when you see project like this.
However i like to think about the many others that actually do provide what they say, and sometimes more.
