I've spent a little while checking out the new update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive [Steam] today and I'm pretty impressed with the new map. The new map is called 'Canals' and it's based on a real-world Italian city.

What I really like about the map, is how different each side of it is. The terrorist area is all close quarters, while the counter terrorists have wide open spaces. The whole map is mish-mash of this and it looks really damn good visually.

I had a surprising amount of fun with it, considering I haven't played it properly in years. Even managed multiple MVP awards (Most Valuable Player), nice.

The Phoenix Rising terrorist model was also updated, to make it look a lot better:
Quotethe adjustments are focused on preserving character legibility and improving overall visual fidelity

The only issue with CS:GO is the performance, it's all over the place at times. I hope this is one they update to Vulkan in future.

Find the full update notes here. If you've been away from the game for a while, now is a great time to check it out! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Interesting, I think I've actually seen the first screenshot in real life :)

Edit: Oh, minus the gun of course.

Before this update enabling HRTF would max out one CPU core. This has been fixed even though it wasn't mentoined in the changelog. [Github](https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux/issues/1244)

Performance has always been iratic, the game is CPU centric. Hopefully Vulkan will allow for smoother gameplay.

I'd really like to see CS:GO get a Vulkan update, that would be nice, but I really doubt it since it is an old game I think still writen in source 1 engine?

Its performance on Linux isn't as smooth as it should be, it is in fps but frame times don't feel smooth and there seems to be a layer of microlag on top of the game and for so reflex based fps games all the latency and responsivness matters much.

I actually agree. You can't even aim down the sights for most guns.

How's that "the worst"?

I had that issue too and it would overload my CPU and cause my system to crash. When I brought it up, people would basically tell me to update my computer to fix it.

Btw, Valve did mention it in their changelog: http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2017/03/18198/

I don't like the beatles or the rollings stones, but saying they're the worst bands ever would be plain stupid :S:

Oh, yes, kinda. Although this was a Linux specific bug. Btw there is something wrong with your setup (cooling, vcore) if maxing out on core makes your PC crash.

I only played a little on it so far. I really like the aesthetics.

The rolling stones are great, though. :(

I have no doubt they are. I just don't dig them.
