Deep Sixed is a pretty unique looking space survival roguelike that will be heading to Kickstarter soon and the developers confirmed it will support Linux.

The developer also confirmed in our comments it's using the Godot engine.

Features

  • Life without an "undo" button. Your ship stays with you from start to finish. If something breaks, it'll stay broken until you figure out how to fix it.
  • A universe of procedurally generated mysteries for the ambitious explorer.
  • A diverse ecosystem of intergalactic fauna with their own predator, prey and scavenger roles to play.
  • A steep difficulty-curve that will push your ability to stay calm under pressure to the limits.
  • A compelling story of friendship and compassion that promises to surprise and entertain.

Looks pretty good, what do you think?

Interesting, for sure, but I urge everyone- the list of kickstarter funded games promising Linux support only to back out after we fund it, is a long one. No Tux, no bux.

Not to be a debbie downer but... Is it made with Flash? Couldn't this just as well have been a browser game?

I have backed many projects and have never had this happen on any of them. I know there are some, but I find it hard to believe that it's a particularly long list.

How did you come up with the idea they use Flash? I think they are using multiplatform engine Godot.

Because it looks like it could have been.

Hi everybody,
I'm the lead programmer and composer of Deep Sixed. I'd like to confirm that this game will - definitely - be released for Linux on day one. Solitary is right, we're using the Godot Engine which supports Linux out of the box. I'm a Linux user myself, so this game is partially developed on Linux and I'm testing Linux builds all the time.
