Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - A Criminal Past [Steam] is a new story DLC that Feral Interactive have ported to the Linux version.

Windows gamers had it last month, so we've had a short wait to get it. Out of 165 counted reviews on Steam, the overall rating given is "Very Positive" so it looks like it could well be worth picking up.

I've loved every moment of my time with Deus Ex and I will most likely pick up the DLC for two reasons. The first being: I need more, the second: to support the ongoing Linux porting work by Feral.

This is the last we might see of Adam, as apparently the series has been put on hold due to underwhelming sales of this latest game, which is a shame.

About the DLC
Experience Adam Jensen’s first mission for TF29, set before the events of Mankind Divided. Posing as a convicted criminal, Jensen is transferred deep into a hostile, high-security prison for augmented felons. His mission: Track down and retrieve sensitive information from a fellow undercover agent who has gone dark. Success will help the fight against terror around the world, but Jensen will need to confront a darker side to his role before the day is done.

@miro you enable the launcher, by holding down crtl while starting the game.

Admittedly I haven't tried, but it says so in the launcher if disabling it.

edit:

Maybe I was a little too fast on the trigger. I wrote it before reading you already knew that :D

then how come that just PC or at least "Linux" or specifically steamOS is not listed in that update? Does SE care that less or what is it?
I can't speak for anyone but myself here, but the original news post is from a completely different team, they don't speak for Feral. Feral tend to announce everything they're doing themselves, since they develop and publish their Linux ports directly.

Quoting: miroI noticed the elusive targets, it's just that from a dev-view I think there are things like these targets that can be added without modifications to the app itself, like a plugin or simple additional files in some elusive-targets-directory.
You're making a lot of assumptions about code you know nothing about, it's likely nothing close to being simple like you imagine. You have no idea what they're changing and Feral have to keep up with the work done on it, and so far have done.

I really don't get all the doom and gloom.

Is it possible to buy the DLC from Ferals website directly? If I go to the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - A Criminal Past page and then Buy it only shows the season pass DLC as being available.

but feral surely received the changes committed for those updates by SE to compile them into an update, I doubt feral is maintaining and selling hitman completely on their own, so I guess there is some communication. If I was working for feral then I'd expect from SE to be involved into the (update-)releases to some high degree, to maintain same versions for everyone.

that assumption had a reason, let me explain why.

When I wanted to buy hitman, I read about release notes to that day, especially when I hit a bug in some contracts, where some events were not triggered properly. Then I found a release-notes-history, similar to this: https://hitman.com/updates/february-update-1-9-1

it mentions version 1.9.1 ..my hitman copy said version 1.01, this lead me to believe that there was no up2date version in use for the port and that I was basically dealing with an old hitman version. Having the "elusive targets"-contracts still available lead me to thinking of precisely that, that these missions were added in a plugin-style way, just like additional files in contract-directories. I did not say that I know how it is done, it was just an assumption, since I thought my old 1.01 copy has the newest contracts, while thinking none of the changes from 1.01->1.9.1 were committed into my release.

all that text read, I saw it today for the first time mentioned, that hitman for linux 1.00 included all the previous updates from the windows release, which was mentioned here http://steamcommunity.com/app/236870/discussions/1/135511757693702225/ for the first time (I never heard of that merge before), and this posting is as I mentioned, one day old at the time of this posting.

I am very glad to learn that hitman-linux is the same as the other releases - I never had doubt in feral (otherwise I would not own almost all of their ports), it is just kind of weird to see that platform list with no word about linux, you can't surely tell me that you do not feel a little bit odd about this as well as I do.

Cheers Feral, will be picking this up for sure :) I finished the main game a while back but have kept it installed for "just one more go"... now I feel justified!
