Ghost Blade HD [Steam, Official Site] was a day-1 Linux release and looks like a good one if you're a bullet-hell fan! It even has co-op support to bring a buddy along.

I used to love these games on my old Amiga and on my Sega Megadrive as well! If you pick it up, be sure to let us know what you think in the comments. So far the small amount of reviews it have are all positive, so that's a good sign.

Similar to this game.. I really like "Skyforce Anniversary Edition" which is an excellent version of the shoot-em up arcade genre. Also, importantly - Skyforce is on Linux, and it plays fantastically.

I love shmups. 1 min into the video I was sold. Purchased. One of the top helpful reviews lays out things nicely:

This game looks great from my POV - as a big fan of the genera (going all the way back to PC Engine / TurboGrafx 16-CD titles Gate of Thunder / Lords of Thunder / R-Type / Sidearms / etc/).

I have to also put in a plug for the best bullet-hell on Linux, that apparently no one knows about, Steel Rain! It's..in a word..epic. With RPG and building elements (via obtaining power-ups through planetary colonization and building) and a deep story mode (for a game like this). It's about to get a major new update as well. I highly encourage fans of shumps to check it out.
