This keeps happening to me, I keep writing about something and a day later it's here! Hollow Knight [Official Site] now has a Linux beta build available on Steam.

You need to select "beta-linux-" from the Betas list on the properties of the game to access it. Fantastic to see it arrive on Linux! Read more in their announcement.

The game has some of the best visuals for a 2D action game around, so I look forward to playing it when it's officially released.

About the game
Beneath the fading town of Dirtmouth sleeps an ancient, ruined kingdom. Many are drawn below the surface, searching for riches, or glory, or answers to old secrets.

Hollow Knight is a classically styled 2D action adventure across a vast interconnected world. Explore twisting caverns, ancient cities and deadly wastes; battle tainted creatures and befriend bizarre bugs; and solve ancient mysteries at the kingdom's heart. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Reportedly, the Linux beta isn't accessible at the moment due to, what seems like, a packaging mishap.

Edit: It got fixed.

Great news! I sure hope it runs smoothly. Hand-drawn metroidvania with clever writing? Count me in!

Yes! It is smooth as silk for me as well. What a great game! The devs have done a good port, as far as I can tell.

I am only about an hour in to it, but I am hooked already.
Posting the next day: Game is still smooth and I have had no game issues at all. However, Steam achievements are not working on Linux yet. Hopefully they will fix that before it gets out of beta.

Art style is great. Controls are tight. Having a lot of fun...

I can also confirm that the game works great after 16 hours of testing. I did perform a horrible sin by buying it originally through my windows machine as I was super excited to play the game. I however fell into the category of players that could not play the game due to stutter and slowdown issues that the developer could not identify or fix. I downloaded the linux-beta build ready for disappointment that I would again run into stutter and slowdown issues but it runs smoothly and without any hard crashes! I see the criticisms and merits that the game has garnered so far. It's refreshingly fun to explore but it does stick to the Super Metroid tropes a little too strongly at times. Just wait until you get to the third major area, you'll see what I mean.

More stuff in case you're wondering what other features the game has. Including a boss fight.
