After chatting privately with the developers of Hyper Sentinel [Kickstarter, Official Site] to give them some advice, they have now put up their official Linux demo and they have also hit their funding goal on Kickstarter.

They have not only hit their initial goal, but also reached their first two stretch-goals!

Here's their trailer for a reminder:

You can download the demo from here. I've tested it myself and didn't have an issue. It runs smoothly and it's actually a pretty decent shoot 'em up. It's fast-paced and the constant backwards and forwards movement was a little trying to get right, especially with enemy ships constantly flying around but it feels really great.

If you try it, be sure to let me know what you think in the comments.

Andrew Hewson, the publisher of Uridium is also on the team as an advisor and consultant which is pretty cool to see. I've seen a few people say it reminds them of Uridium so it's not surprising. The game does reference some classics, but offers its own spin on it. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Nice, that looks like Uridium on C64 back in the days.

Quoting: GuestLooked at the video and instantly thought "Uridium". Same dev as it turns out. Nice.
Well, Andrew is only in a sort of advisory role, he's not actually developing it :)

In fact, the original was developed by Andrew Braybrook, who is not on this project at all.

Ah yes, you're right. Mixed up publisher and developer since both share the same first name.
