As expected, Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition [Official Site, GOG, Steam] has now been announced with a trailer and it looks like it will launch with Linux support. It will have a release on both GOG and Steam so everyone can enjoy it.
It will officially release on April 11th, so it's coming really damn soon. Far closer to release than I thought it would be.
They are listing Linux right away everywhere platforms are mentioned, so it looks to be a day one release for sure. You can pre-order it now, but as always I suggest waiting until release to be sure.

How excited are you for this? I never played the original, so I'm excited to give it a try. It's estimated to be around 50+ hours long so I might need a few late nights.

- Enhanced Planescape: Chris Avellone, Lead Designer on Planescape Torment, has partnered with Beamdog to curate gameplay updates, bug fixes, and enhancements to best capture his original vision for the game.
- Remastered Music: The full Planescape: Torment soundtrack has been remastered in-game to add more depth to Sigil and the multiverse.
- 4K Interface: Sigil has never looked this good! The interface of Planescape: Torment has been rebuilt in high definition with tons of new convenience features.
- A Planescape For Today: The Enhanced Edition includes modern features such as tab highlighting, area zooming, combat log, quickloot, and more!

Finally!! But if it is like the other "enhanced" editions, it will be released with plenty of bugs, and it wil be worth wainting till they get it all sorted out.

Story is miles better than the fairly mundane sword and sorcery tale of BG. It's all very depressing, mind. Highly recommended.

The technical improvements are welcome, but I hope their writing has improved since they gave the BG games the "Enhanced Edition" treatment.

The technical improvements are welcome, but I hope their writing has improved since they gave the BG games the "Enhanced Edition" treatment.Hopefully they didn't add any writing at all, even with Chris Avellone's help. Beamdog couldn't match the level of writing in BG and the writing in Planescape: Torment is an order of magnitude greater, any story bits Beamdog themselves would add would massively stand out from the rest of the narrative.

I already own the original planescape torment, but never played it. I guess the enhanced edition will make it more appealing.

Great news! Sadly my budget does not allow me to buy anything right now, but I will make sure to buy this one later. I am eager to play it for the first time. See if it is all that....

I already own the original planescape torment, but never played it. I guess the enhanced edition will make it more appealing.
GOG offers 30% off if you have the original.

No Italian translation, no buy!
Note: the original Planescape had an amateur italian translation done by the same people that some years after did the official translation for Baldur's Gate:EE and Icewind's games, so my hopes are high ;)

Don't know why, I never succeeded to enjoy the first 30 min while I love and enjoy multiple times BG and Fallout 1&2... I know lot of people love this game. Did I miss something? The remaining of the game is identical to those 30 min?

Honestly it's not for everyone. There is a lot of reading, and also some pretty thought provoking stuff.
I personally regard as one of my all time favourite games.

Don't know why, I never succeeded to enjoy the first 30 min while I love and enjoy multiple times BG and Fallout 1&2... I know lot of people love this game. Did I miss something? The remaining of the game is identical to those 30 min?I mean you don't get to see the most amazing stuff about the game in the first 30 minutes, but at the same time I think it's safe to say that if you didn't enjoy the first 30 minutes you won't enjoy the rest.

I'll certainly pick it up (as long as there are no 'Beamdog story enhancements and NPcs' in it). I've played the original, but it's a few years ago since last time.
Still, I'll have to finish Tides of Numenera first...

Rest at ease, Beamdog ain't touching any writing, quote from the faq:
What content changed between PST and PST:EE?
Planescape: Torment has a unique tone and it would be impossible to add significant content to the game without changing that voice. Besides Chris Avellone's additions and edits to the text, we haven't changed any of the original Planescape: Torment content. Gameplay aside, we've added significant quality of life improvements to the user interface of this classic game. Scroll to the bottom of this FAQ for a larger list of improvements.
If the music 'remaster' isn't messed up too much I will probably be getting it on android.

Brilliant! Have the original, and played few times, so this one will have to wait a bit to be bought and played. I wish I had more time to have a go to the ever growing list of re-plays and new titles :( (plus other hobbies)
