Tried to add my system info, inputs are super limiting. 5 monitors is the max I can choose (I have 9). Resolution options are for a single monitor. OS/Distro/Dual boot options are limited. No GPU count so on and so on.

I wish I had this problem. :P

You're using 9 monitors on a single Linux machine - is that even possible? What are you using them all for?

Resolution option is for main monitor yeah.

you should ask what options you need, im sure Liam can add some. you are probably a corner case though.

9 monitors that means at least 2 GPUs afaik :D

what i would like to see is the list of GPUs and CPUs also, but there are so many so its hard to make a huge list and there has to be "Other" option then probably.

Updated. Whilst I still have Windows on the pc, it no longer gets booted, and the games on its gaming partition get loaded through wine now. I stopped booting it when it prepared to install the anniversary update as I didn't want it to trash my Linux.

It would be cool to have an option for a second or third PC, like myself i have my desktop system with solus and another different desktop with steamOS, not counting various laptops.

AFAICT the point of the survey is to gather data about our primary Linux gaming machines. Just pick the Linux setup you mostly play your games on. The others are not important in this context. Feel free to brag about them in the forums though. :)

yeah, super limiting because the very rare cases like you can't select their almost unique situation. come on :P

I should get myself a gaming rig, but it's hard to find Linux machines with a decent AMD GPU. I can't put one together myself, 'cause I always mess up putting the CPU on the motherboard and end up wrecking everything.

Can you get one without a dedicated gpu? Then you'd only need to install the gpu yourself.

Indeed, this is probably among the best ways to go if you need a gaming rig but don't want to build it yourself. After all, a gaming rig is an average CPU with an above-average GPU. Though it's also sometimes possible to have a PC be built for you with the components you desire, some shops offer this as an option and will naturally take a bit of extra on top of component prices but you get to avoid the DIY.

Or you can get someone that builds rigs frequently to do that for you.

It's been a while since I bought a PC, but most shops would gladly assemble the machine for you. And also advise on the components you may need. Just avoid the shopping center electronics shops. You know the Apple shop types, where they just have laptops and overpriced cables. People there often have no technical skills beyond taking your money. You want a shop that sells PC parts.

Are you 100% sure, as that should be 100% impossible. They get the data from the exact same source.

Update: I've upped the monitor picker to 10, I'm a little curious if people really use anything more than 3 or 4 on the main machine.

Also, actually noted on the page it is for your main machine.

I see people say stuff like this a lot. I have lived all over the US and I have never once seen any specialty store that sells components. My options are always big box stores like Best Buy or online shopping. Where do you people live that has stores dedicated to building machines?

We've got a few smaller stores in even my tiny home town in Finland that sell both components and brandname computers. Most of them will assemble your box and even install your OS (well, Windows) for a fee of about 40-50 euros max. And even our largest national on-line retailers will assemble your machine and deliver it that way if you pay for the service. I know this is true in many other European countries as well.

I guess US consumers might be more used to buying branded computers, which might explain why Apple does so much better there. Or maybe it's the other way around.
