It's been a while since I put a question to the community, so here it is! What are you currently playing and what do you think about it?
I'm still very fond of Ballistic Overkill and recently Insurgency, still a big FPS fan myself and that will never change.
For Ballistic Overkill, it's the simple pleasures here. It's accessible, we never have problems finding a game and the performance is fantastic.
Insurgency is a different matter, as it's difficult, much more realistic and really quite fun to do the co-op mode.
Highly recommend them both.
While I'm here, just to let you know every Monday we will be doing what we decided to call "Ballistic Monday" where we hop on Twitch to livestream Ballistic Overkill and more. Everyone is welcome to join. Keep an eye on our livestream schedule for the info.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: nattydreadPS4: Rocket league (in 4k!)Why not 4k on Linux? :)
Quoting: GuestAs a new linux gamer I have been enjoying Ark and all the linux glitches :P
And yesterday I was introduced to Ballistic Overkill and not gonna lie I love it! So simple to pick up and learn. That and the fact its super cheap!
Two games that I've avoided because of the negative comments on Steam : / I've gone back and forth on Ballistic Overkill since, as you said, it's so cheap. Dumb comments, lol. I'll get it.

I'll get it.I just wanted to write that I'm avoiding it due to early access. Now I saw "Last weeks of early access" and "Its cheaper now, and you’ll get some exclusive vanity items that will never be available again for participating and contributing with our early access. Because you're awesome."
Hmm...
Anybody can tell if it's realistic that they are getting out of early access soon? Did they reach the goals they are mentioning?
Does it have a healthy player base? Cross platform?

I think my gfx card might struggle.
Also the PS4 pro had an update which took the game from 1080p to 4k. I suddenly noticed the difference.

Quoting: GuestBO is great though and I haven't had an issue with it, but then I have only played 90 odd mins of the game so far! I am also one of those ppl that doesnt really read comments on a game I find someone playing it on youtube or twitch and see what I think from that.
What about the other players? I don't like players hating around in chat...

The comments that scared me where users that said, "others sit and snipe the noobs". Me <- noob.
For early access, I'm not that worried about the $7.00... they can stay in EA so long as they maintain their 'beta' quality. For cross platform, eh.. do we care?? I know GOL has a server for the game.. not sure how many people play.

I think I like your decision method better than mine. It's less subject to the trolls.
I always go with personal recommendations, which is why I really appreciate the articles and community involvement here. Not everyone will agree on everything, especially on Linux, but it's still a great group.
And yes? buggiest is a word. Maybe.
Quotebuilding and taming of dinos.I seriously laughed when I read that. Do you build (objects) and tame dinos, or build dinos as well as maintain them :P jk.. I knew what you meant.
Thanks for the feedback, that helps sort out my shopping list.

Quoting: GuestI haven't seen any hate in the chat yet. But I'm playing on the GOL server not sure of that made a difference. But then what game doesn't have hate in the chat. I just don't pay attention to it.
I ye goode olde days, where you had server browsers (like in this game, it seems), it was enough for me when there was one server without hate. And then there seem to be games that don't attract haters: Frozen Synapse was special in this regard (among others) for me. I'm just not able to overlook hate.

So I am at a love/hate status with the game, and YES, buggiest is a word after getting this to work :) but I think that would be a bit cheerful on the state of this project. I think the word is ALPHA.
There are parts that are really amazing, A+ ready to go. But..
Then there are the rookie errors (I'm being very nice -- it's actually crap code with NULL pointer/page faults=crashing on start up) that cause your users to install all three current builds and watch no fewer than nine crashes before one finally gets off the ground.
Then I enjoyed the pre-game I call 'Can we get 60 fps'. It's a thrilling game of changing graphics settings until you've found the right combo to play the real game.
After I played for a couple hours, again, enjoyed a lot of the concepts, just not the execution (or lack of, pun intended lol)
OK, rant over : )
