Wine-Staging 2.3 has now been officially released as they continue to improve their CSMT implementation.
For those that don't quite understand: Wine is a way to run Windows games and applications on Linux. Wine-Staging is the testing area for code to make its way into development builds of Wine and then eventually a stable Wine release.
CSMT stands for Commandstream multithreading, which will hopefully improve performance in games run through Wine.
Here's what new in Wine-Staging 2.3:
- Implementation of ECB mode in bcrypt.
- Ported some d3d11 functions to d3d10.
- Minor CSMT improvements.
- Various bug fixes.
In addition, it also brings in this from the Wine development branch:
- Obsolete wineinstall script removed.
- More Direct3D command stream work.
- A few more Shader Model 5 instructions.
- Better underline rendering in DirectWrite.
- Improved ODBC support on 64-bit.
- Various bug fixes.
Some of you may have noticed I did a bit of a screw up posting up Wine-Staging 2.2 yesterday, as I was rather tired, saw that my Arch install grabbed Wine-Staging 2.3 and ended up writing up the release notes from the previous 2.2 release as this release was only just announced today. Woops...

Not to be too pedantic about it but Wine Staging is where all the experimental, not-ready-even-for-development patches go, like the one patch that removes the 32GB RAM limit for The Witcher 3.
Wine Development is where patches go before they finally end up in the stable version of Wine.
Basically it's like this:
Wine Staging -> Wine development -> Wine stable
Speaking from observation, of course :)

There is no more black scenarios in Hitman:absolution even with the tesselation enabled. But the performance is still poor and for the first time the FPS is 20 average.
Some games like Crysis 2 and Sniper Elite V2 needs some fixes:
Crysis 2 runs but performance is not acceptable and some textures and walls are missing.
Sniper Elite V2 runs but everything is too dark.
One and only dx11 game "Mr.President!"works like a charm with Good-preset.
