World to the West [Steam, Official Site] is a colourful and cartoony action adventure game that's a standalone followup to the indie hit Teslagrad. It will release on May 5th and will include Linux support.
The game actually had funding help from the Norwegian Film Institute who awarded the developers a $150,000 grant back in 2014.
I personally played Teslagrad, I even did early pre-release testing for them years ago before the release and it was damn good. I am very hopeful for this one to be just as good if not better!

World to the West is a pulpy, cartoony top down action adventure inspired by European adventure comics. Take control of four unique characters —Lumina the Teslamancer, Knaus the orphan, Miss Teri the mind bender and the gloriously mustachioed strongman, Lord Clonington—, each with their their own motivations, skills and interweaving storylines, as they seek to escape the dark shadow of an ancient prophecy. Travel trough corrupt colonies, lush jungles and frozen tundras, as you snoop through the secrets of a forgotten civilization.

I am glad they will continue to support Linux. I really enjoyed Teslagrad - I even got all the achievements (and yes, it was pretty hard in places). I have a serious weakness for good Metroidvania games.
I hope the shift to a different play-style works out ok. I liked the minimalist storytelling of their first game, but gameplay is still important.

Good to know, Teslagrad is quite good and more games based in that universe are always interesting.

Hmmmm ... Teslagrad ... Teslagrad ... Let me think. Nope, I give up. I remember the name. Ah, after a quick glance at Steam, I do remember this game. I never bought it, though. Mayhap because of my entirely irrational prejudice towards dimensions lacking Zulu coordinates. Looking back at it, though, I've decided to add it to my wishlist. After all, I own and enjoy all of the Trine games, even the dimensionally challenged ones.
Purchasing World to the West is a no-brainer. It looks beautiful, clever, poignant, and --- most importantly --- it looks fun. It promises everything Teslagrad did, and an extra dimension to boot! I so love to love them that love Linux. :)

I played the game after reading it is great on this side and was very impressed by the game - even if I'm not Indie games big fan. I had hard time while trying to accept how main character looks like, but after some time I forgot about this and I finished whole game in one weekend. And it became one of my top 5 games played on Linux.
