Awesomenauts [Steam], the side-scrolling MOBA, a game I really quite enjoyed playing a while ago is going free to play next month. On May 24th the game will officially tear off the for sale label and emerge as a free to play game.
They make it clear in the announcement that it will not be pay to win. That's a given really, as pay to win in a MOBA would kill it pretty quickly.
Anyone who has owned the game before April 26th is getting "Founder" status, to show off how cool they are. This will give you a medal as well as an exclusive portrait.
There's plenty more, so check out the announcement.

Looking at how much DLCs it has, it's really no wonder.

That way they will be able to give it a second life as the amount of players online was slowly, but steadily in decline.
I definitely recommend the game to everyone!

Cool, I've wanted to check it out for a long time - now I'll have a chance to do so for free.

I bought it 4 years ago & it always seemed to me like a Pay to Win game.

I really do hope it retains whatever players come from f2p, and as a plus, everyone that previously owned it will now have the chance to spend the points on those previously only DLC characters.

I played it few years ago,but it quickly became stale with too few characters, while new ones were available only in paid DLCs. It will be fun at least to try out the new characters, though I don't know how much will I like the game this time around.
