Dark Horizons: Mechanized Corps [Steam], a mech combat game on Steam now has a Beta available with Linux support baked-in.
I've been looking forward to giving it a go as we don't have many mech combat games. I have requested a review key, so hopefully we can test it at various milestones.
It has some interesting features that I think could help. The persistent online battles sound like fun, so each day you come on to fight over different zones. I liked that feature in Planetside 2 when I played that quite some time ago, as persistent battles are a fun tug of war.
Customization is also something I love in any kind of shooter and it seems you can do so in this too, with 4 different types of mech units and 41 different weapons available.
They do note that no data from this Beta will carry over to the main game when it's merged over and their UI is not final.

The only Mech game I have played so far it was MechWarrior 2 and of course I was with Clan Wolf :D

What other Mech game is there for Linux?
I played and quite liked Hawken back in my Windows days, I wouldn't mind having something like that.

Heavy Gear Assault comes to mind. It's also in Early Access.
Also, the original "Horizons" game was on Linux: "Dark Horizons Lore:Invasion," published by good old GarageGames back in 2005 (same developer).

Yes, "Heavy Gear Assault" which has almost no player playing it. Sometimes I wonder why some games are very frequented while others aren't. It's not always about the quality of the game.

omg NICE. I am currently dual-booting into Win7 almost exclusively for Mechwarrior Online which I haven't sufficiently tried to run in Linux... I've read about a few people managing to play it with certain distros/setups but I have thus far been unsuccessful.
I love giant robots with giant guns; this is right up my alley.

There is a new Heavy Gear (also for linux), but that's online online multiplayer, but looks like the original Heavy Gear.

MWO was the only game I was playing before switching to Linux. I still had 6 months of premium time left on the account when I switched. After not playing for a few weeks it gets very easy to let it go. It would be nice to have it on Linux but that will never happen since they don't have a license to release it on any other platform.
I can play it with gallium-nine, but it's not the smoothest experience even so. That could be more wine overhead on my rig than anything else, but it definitely took a performance hit. Shame, because I used to quite enjoy MW:O....for a time...until the matchmaking queues really got screwed up.
I just installed Steam through Wine and installed MWO from there in Linux Mint 18, and it's functionally great, and playable framerate (probably around 40). Couple of texture bugs on certain map features but they're just discolored, not missing or super ugly.
Only problem I think is my GPU - it's a Radeon R9 290, which I've read is basically loaded with problems on Linux. So I might have to sidegrade it with an NVIDIA 700 series card or something. But yeah, other than not having high enough FPS as I would like, Mechwarrior Online is (to my knowledge thus far) 100% operational.
