Just a reminder that Patreon is the only thing keeping this site running and we rely on user support to continue doing our thing. According to a survey done by Boiling Steam last year, GamingOnLinux is the most popular site for Linux gaming news next to reddit, so I am pretty proud of what we have here.

I hate doing reminders like this, so I hope people appreciate that I don't do it often, every couple months and no more. This is only the second time of manually asking this year, as I just like to get on with it. Due to exchange rates, people reducing their pledges, people cancelling and declined payments on top of that, this months pay from Patreon was reduced by quite a bit.

In the last month I've put out around 200 articles, you can see more statistics on this page about how we're doing. I always like to be open about as much as possible. That page was actually made partially due to Patron cancellations due to the website "being built on the content/contributions of many", but that page gives you a very clear idea of the amount of effort I put in here.

I'm working on rather a lot at the moment, including an interview with Beamdog. That should be fun once I get the answers back from it!

So, please consider supporting GamingOnLinux on Patreon, without you, we are nothing. I am always very thankful for your support.

Plans for the rest of the year

- Content, lots and lots of glorious content.

- I am going to look at reviving our Linux game sales page sometime this year. The original way it was developed made it a pain to maintain, but we've slowly built a proper database of Linux games, which I can link sales against meaning less manual work. The database is slowly being worked on feature wise like genre tags, license info and more, but that's slow as it's additional work on top of testing game and writing.

- We have regular livestreaming content on our Twitch Channel. Be sure to keep an eye on our Livestream Schedule page, which is open to you to submit your own.

- I plan to allow you to customize your experience on GOL some more. With the ability to filter out certain tags from showing their articles on the home page. I will have a quick link to click to view all, but I know some people don't care at all about certain types of content.

- An ignore list. Having issues with a user? You will be able to ignore their posts completely and not see them.

- Possibly grab a HTC Vive for thoughts, reviews and so on for VR content, but that depend solely on Patreon. Valve said they couldn't provide me a unit and HTC never replied.

I am the owner of GamingOnLinux. After discovering Linux back in the days of Mandrake in 2003, I constantly came back to check on the progress of Linux until Ubuntu appeared on the scene and it helped me to really love it. You can reach me easily by emailing GamingOnLinux directly.

Liam, it's really pretty bizarre to hear that anyone would cancel their patreon because they thought you were somehow "stealing" or failing to acknowledge others' work. This site would be a ghost-ship without you, as proven by the two times you've stepped down for holidays/personal reasons.

It's even more meaningless when you realise that many of the other contributors to this site are also your patrons, myself included.

Weird stance to take!

If I understand Patreon correctly it is subscription based. I will not use that but I consider a one time donation via PayPal. Is this possible?

I've been a patron for quite some time now, and it's been Worth. Every. Penny.

You can pledge the amount you want to donate and then once the first payment goes through, you can stop your pledge? Just a thought.

Also, keep up the great work, Liam and contributors!

Done. Keep up the good work.

Thank you everyone! As for one time donations, that can be done on Patreon too. Just set the amount you want and cancel after the first payment.

I doubled my pledge to 3$.
