It's being developed by Harebrained Schemes, who created Shadowrun Returns with Paradox publishing it on PC. For those that don't remember it was funded on Kickstarter where they grabbed $2,785,537 in funding to make it happen.

Linux is confirmed for the game, but it's not exactly clear when the Linux version will be released. There's no mention of Linux during the Beta cycle, but it will release in full across Steam, GoG, and Humble for Linux, Mac & Windows sometime this year. They said in this post in March it's possible the release will be in " Late Summer / Fall".

They also have a video showing off some of the multiplayer:

I'm pretty darn excited, since I love mech games and I'm a pretty big strategy fan for things like this. Will you be picking it up when it's out? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Never been interested in mechs honestly, but after the Shadowrun series, I would buy anything that HBS wants to sell me.

Used to play battletech back in the day - most likely all over this! :)

I'm already sold!

Message to the devels: please add a "Sniper" type Mech that can only fire from long distance. Maybe a one that has a shape like two legs and a big cannon over it.

Looks nice. Seen a lot of real time action mech combat. Never seen a TBS in my youth.
Weeeeellll....not completely true. There was this compilation CD and a game called Power Dolls. I was too embarrassed to play it as a kid due to its title.

This looks awesome. I love strategy games, I love giant robots, and it's coming from two good studios. I'm sold.

I'm sure the big cannon over two legs is a phallic reference, but if you're after sniper setups, they don't really have them in Battletech. It's a massive mechanical battle machine, not something easily hidden. The closest you'll get is something packed with gauss rifles and LRMs. Or 'mech mounted longtom artillery.
Inner Sphere combat from the era they're setting it in is particularly close quarters (relatively speaking) and brutal. Also, anything with enough tonnage to field lots of and only long range weaponry had a tendency to get torn apart by smaller 'mechs that could out-manoeuvre, close the distance, and open up on weaker rear armour.

It's been many moons, but I swear they had a 'sniper' type, but as you said, it was basically a cannon you would have sit back and fire like artillery more than a nice quick sniper attack, then hide type of tactic.

The great thing about this game is that it's hard core Battletech+mechwarrior from all that I've seen, it's not like the Mechwarrior games, which were real time. Used to love the board game, it's like a more complex version of Ogre, which I wish Steve Jackson would create (or allow to be created) a new version of that game for the computer. I do still have my original Atari ST version laying around...

Same here! Never had a mech interest but the "shadowrun" games as well as the trailers for this one makes this an insta-buy. Wishlishted.

I wish it were in the Earthsiege universe, but it still looks pretty great. Unless the reviews are bad I'll be picking this up on GOG.
