About the game
QuoteSurviving Mars is a sci-fi settlement builder all about colonizing Mars and surviving the process. Choose a space agency for resources and financial support before determining a location for your colony. Build domes and infrastructure, research new possibilities and utilize drones to unlock more elaborate ways to shape and expand your settlement. Cultivate your own food, mine minerals or just relax by the bar after a hard day’s work. Most important of all, though, is keeping your colonists alive. Not an easy task on a strange new planet.

There will be challenges to overcome. Execute your strategy and improve your colony’s chances of survival while unlocking the mysteries of this alien world. Are you ready? Mars is waiting for you.

Oh hell yes, I need this. Excited doesn't even begin to explain my feelings right now. Linux is listed very clearly as a release platform.

Paradox are doing some really amazing publishing deals for Linux games, this is fantastic news. I love colony building sims and on Linux we really don't have much choice, so hopefully it will be good. It's due sometime next year, so we have a while to wait. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: DisharmonicThis should be fun if utterly unrealistic. Seems like it will be Tropico on Mars

Quoting: GuestHaemimont Games are the developers of the Tropico series and Victor Vran.
I’m afraid I won’t enjoy it much if it is similar to Paradox games or Tropico 5.

I skipped on Victor Vran because I am not too eager to play games that force me to play a male character, at least not unless premade female characters become just as normal.
Oh common, this isn't the 90s, female characters are quite common in games these days. Maybe it's not a 50/50 split but there are certainly a lot of games out there.

Funnily enough, female lead characters appear more often in Indie productions, but in all quite honesty, I am not sure where you saw the progress in mainstream games. I didn't. I still need less than the fingers on my hands to name pretty much all AAA games I can't think of lead by truly iconic girl characters: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Mirror's Edge, Blood Rayne, Remember Me and Life is Strange. There are a few JPRGs with female leads, too. That's about it. This is nowhere near 50%. It's not even 25%. I don't really think we're in double-digit percentage figures of representation yet. Whenever mainstream industry makes a game with a premade character, it's still almost universally a guy. Compared to the mid 80s, there was some progress in terms of the number of games with premade characters overall decreasing and more games offering choices. Shepard can be a girl now, if you want. That's the one positive development I saw. But as far as premades go, there was barely any change. The industry at large is still one of the most sexist on the planet. It was only a few years ago when the developer of Remember Me got shown the door by pretty much all larger publishers, because nobody wanted to publish a game with a female lead. 'nuff said.

I think the whole gender discussion would probably fit better on The Forum, don't you guys? ;)

Quoting: GuestIt would be fun if this game connected somehow with Stellaris through events like their April fools joke using HOI IV, that would make me a lot more interested!

Must have missed that one.
What did they do for HOI 4 ?

This looks great, I'm definitely getting this one.
I love the "bright futurism" aesthetic so much. Sounds like it's going to have a lot of attention to detail too. Can't wait.

I want this. Rather sooner than later. Glad it will be coming to Linux (it's paradox afterall, and they have a history of succeeding with their ports).

That is a game I could really love.

Looks interesting, definately like this sort of game. Will be interesting to see how it stacks up against Maia as that is a very similar concept.

LOL
That's cool.
Some games actually had futuristic content for April Fools. I remember War Thunder doing mech walkers one year.
Still the rage quit bot from Rocket League takes the cake.

It looks very similar to this cheap and fun game: http://solzerogame.com/
