POSTAL Redux [Steam, Official Site] is the revamp of the original Postal with improved graphics, new game modes and more. It looks like the Linux version might finally be on the way. We knew it would happen eventually, since the developers confirmed it before.
Thanks to another Twitter tip from mphuZ, SteamDB has shown some activity today, showing the developers have been sorting out the launcher and publishing new builds of a currently private Beta.
About the game
I loved the original Postal for the brutal action when I was younger, but I found trying it out now as an adult too clunky. Hopefully this revamp is good, the Steam reviews certainly paint a good picture overall. Some reviewers have noted long load times though, so keep that in mind.

QuotePOSTAL Redux is a high definition remake of The Postal Dude's infamous first foray into the world. Prepare to experience his psychological journey with faithfully recreated high resolution visuals, remastered music, sounds, and dialog, and revamped and modernized gameplay. Crazed gunmen out for your blood await you around every corner. The only choice is clear: Get them before they get you. Crikey, I remember the controversy behind this.
Say... anyone remember Meatpuppet? Similar style to Postal, but bloody awful gameplay.

I played Postal 2 but never Postal 1
Kind of interesting how many old games are getting ported to Linux.
Still this is a remake so technically not that old.

I was a major fan of Postal 2. Will have to give Postal Redux a look when it comes out. 2 was great and a joyfully twisted game. I hope that Redux is also just as sick! Anymore I try to buy Linux compatible games, even when buying for my windows box, hoping for the day when I can delete that last windows partition. A person can dream.

What do you still play Win only ? Just curios.

Space engineers
Empyrion (devs have promised a linux verson one day)
GTA V
Saints Row the third (Linux multiplayer does not work with windows multiplayer clients)
arma 2 dayz
Banished (A linux port was talked about, but not sure if it will happen)
Raft
Also Minecraft modpacks are a pain to get working on linux.
These are all developer issues, and not linux issues. Sad part was when the developer of raft pulled Linux support.

I can understand that.
My friends play Gta 5. Not my style but I am not holding up hope for a linux port.
I am glad I finished the Witcher 3 and the Skyrim Enderal mod before I switched. Those two would have kept me on Win. (In honesty i do have a laptop I could use)
Kinda sad Banished and Arma 2 never made it to Linux.
Never tried Raft so not sure what to say there.

Don't expect something epic. The original Postal was quite special for its time but it didn't aged well at all. Comparing to Postal 2, it is plain and pointless. I got it couple years ago thanks to Linux support. However, the gameplay was so weak for my taste that I uninstalled it without planning a revisit. I don't expect anything special from redux release. If you really want to support the dev, just get Postal 2 and its DLC.
