Pyre [Steam, Official Site], the next game from Transistor developer Supergiant Games is coming to Linux! The port is being done by Ethan Lee and it should see a day-1 Linux release.

About the game
QuotePyre is a party-based RPG in which you lead a band of exiles to freedom through ancient competitions spread across a vast, mystical purgatory. Who shall return to glory, and who shall remain in exile to the end of their days?

It sounds like an interesting idea, where you're never forced to lose. Your journey will continue if you win or lose and each game will end up being a little different.

Exciting, as it looks fantastic and their previous games have all been very well received by many. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I like Supergiant's work a lot, even if I've got a habit of not actually finishing their games.

Even on Windows sys reqs , there is no mention DirectX. Probably they've never touched DirectX for this game.

I really like how their games look and feel, but I just can't seem to enjoy the actual gameplay. I have no idea why exactly.

Looking at the 20 minutes of gameplay video, I would probably hate the matches, but man did that story and design suck me right in. Putting this one down on the "watch a playthrough someday" list.

Color me interested. I really like the idea of battles being played as kind of a sport.

Ethan "flibitijibibo" Lee rocks! According to his [Patreon site](https://www.patreon.com/flibitijibibo) this might be his 51th port. Wow! Just wow!

Gampelay only seems to be 1/ dialogues and 2/sport-fighting phases?

It sounds like Darren Korb is on soundtrack duties again, that alone is reason enough for me to buy the game.

Hmm. I really enjoyed Bastion, Transistor a bit less so. This doesn't really appeal to me at all though - and party RPGs are my bread and butter. I dunno what it is exactly, maybe the art style?

To be honest it doesn't look like it plays like a party-based RPG either. Sure you have three characters + yourself driving the story, but you can only control one character at a time during "combat" as far as I've seen. It looks more like an arcade and point & click crossover to me.
