Mesa developer Samuel Pitoiset sent in a set of 65 patches to the Mesa-dev list to enable ARB_bindless_texture for RadeonSI (AMD), this will allow Dawn of War III to work on Mesa.

From the patch set, Samuel said:
QuoteToday, Feral announced "Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III" (called DOW3) which is going to be released next month. This game *requires* ARB_bindless_texture, that now explains why I did all this work. So, we have ~3 weeks for merging this whole series. It would be very nice to have DOW3 support at day one!

The wording makes it sound like we won't be waiting on Mesa 17.2 for it (considering he's hopeful for day one support), which is due in August. It sounds like it might be something that (if accepted into Mesa-git) gets cherry-picked for the next Mesa 17.1.x point release.
*Clarification: Samuel himself commented, to make it clear features like this are not picked for point releases, so it is most likely to be in Mesa 17.2

It's great to see that Feral has obviously given pre-release access to Mesa developers to help Mesa move forward and get good support for Feral games.

Also, Samuel has some ideas on improving RadeonSI performance, which he will be working on once this patch set has been accepted.

This is one I missed yesterday, so thanks for the reminder BTRE! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

This doesn't break DXMD because ARB_bindless_texture is not enabled by default. Don't expect anything to be backported to Mesa 17.1.x because we only cherry-pick bug fixes, not features. Though, my work could be available via padoka PPA I think and should be in Mesa 17.2. Thanks!

Interesting thanks, i guess by day one support you meant for Mesa-git then?

Well, they didn't take that long from 17.0 to 17.1, so I just hope they can get a release out with june/july :-).

Interesting, thanks for clarifying, looks like the wording got us muddled up a bit there.

Also, while you're here, thank you for all the work you're doing!

Will this help Shadow Of Mordor too? Actually it's barely playable...

Thanks for all your work and dedication, Mesa devs! <3

Thank you for your work, devs! (:

I haven't worked on drivers before, is there a best practice how to get involved in doing so?
