I'm excited to see more from Ravenfield, as the early versions on itch.io are very promising. It's heading to Steam and will release with Linux support on May 18th.

You can see a slightly older trailer of what to expect here:

Features
  • Easy-to-pickup, singleplayer mayhem
  • Fight as infantry, or in ground vehicles, aircraft, or watercraft
  • Active ragdoll physics combines tactical strategies with a sprinkle of silly fun
  • The number of combatants is only limited by what your computer can handle!
  • Damaged soldiers drop team-colored blood splats, indicating where battles have taken place

My number one feature request is multiplayer, as it would make the game so much more entertaining, but sadly this is not currently planned. Multiplayer is hard to get right, even more so when you're a small team.

The developer is currently planning to add in: Custom map support, Steam Workshop integration, AI Commanding, Campaign mode, Custom vehicle support and Custom weapon support. They plan regular updated every 4-6 weeks.

I will be picking up a copy, will you? Even with it being single-player only, it's still going to be a lot of fun. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

We lack a squad(team up with buddies then join a server. As opposed to joining a server and hoping you can play on the same side) based shooter, this would be the perfect candidate...

I really like this game. It's a lot of fun.

Don't really care for MP on this as there's lots of other games with that and ppl are usually not playing the objective anyway.

So, which is hardest? Making multiplayer or AI that feels like it's like multiplayer?

If Linux/Windows cross MP works I will buy this for me and my mates. :)

EDIT:
I also stipulate I need to be able to play with my windows firends vs bots.

The first few times i played, i actually thougth i was online with other layers... Only at the end of some matches i noticed nobody was talking, haha ! For sure multiplayer would be great. Not sure it can succeed without it. It remembers me of the excellent Running With Rifle, only with less options, and FPS view.

that looks very fun

Well, it's out on Steam now, and almost 15€ (-15% at launch). Not sure what to think about it, yet. I feel it's to much for this solo-only game, when other games like Counter Strike, Ballistik Overkill and others have more advanced visual, and multipjayer.
