Ravenfield [Steam] is a Red vs Blue single-player FPS that plays out a little like Battlefield and it's now in Early Access.

Note: I requested a key from the developer, but they denied my request as they aren't sending out any press keys. So I will likely pick it up with the next Patreon pay to give it some early thoughts.

About the game
QuoteFight upon the Ravenfield together with your Blue allies! Take down those pesky Reds using helicopters, tanks, guns, and active ragdoll physics!

Ravenfield is a singleplayer game in the vein of older team-vs-team AI shooters. The game is designed to be easy to pick up and play, but also rewarding for all skill levels!

It certainly looks like a lot of fun, but I'm still sad multiplayer won't be added. It's a game truly begging for it, could be an even bigger hit if it had dedicated servers.

The reviews so far are extremely positive, with the usual idiots reviewing it poorly because "looks like crap, is singleplayer only", well I wonder what they expected? Clearly states it's single-player and the graphics can be seen right away in screenshots. Typical user-review nonsense. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

It's a real shame that this game doesn't ship with multiplayer. Especially when you consider that you could play a really silly Battlefield 2 with your friends with this game...
Because of this it will be a no buy for me

Here's a question. Do they plan to add the multiplayer later ?
Was excited to potentially play this with friends.

I liked the several previous (free) beta, but i think, as a single player game, it's not "enough", yet, for its new price.

They said different times it will never be multiplayer.

My bad.
Understood.

Wasn't it free tho? I remember trying it on Itch.io (that was also the only reason I tryied Itch)...

Why would they ask for 15€ if all they offer is a single-player FPS game... I mean seriously, an FPS game is not an FPS game until it has either single-player or a solid campaign. This has neither...

For me this is kind of a dick move and just another failed early access game to join the endless see of others like it.

I guess you meant multiplayer. But yeah, I share the general opinion here. At least, give us some split screen, that would be some serious action :)

No offence, but you're clueless. Sorry to be blunt here, but I've seen people say such things often.

Early Access is designed exactly for games in development. It's the entire point, and as usual: don't buy it if you don't want it.

Early Access is for games to continue to evolve, with player feedback. The campaign mode for example, is a feature to come that will be developed over time with feedback.

Calling it a dick move makes you sound like you really don't understand any of this.

I bought it, and i actually have a hell of a good time just mowing down the bots. Yeah i wish it would get multiplayer, but for now, i am enjoying it for what it is.

I've been playing this since the the second beta. I absolutely love it. For a free game, it has taken up a good bit of my time. I don't have Internet at home, so I can't justify throwing money at games that are multiplayer focused. I'll probably be picking up the Steam version when it gets some cool updates.

Also, on an unrelated note, I just realized that for the first time since I joined Steam, I actually have more games than I can play. I've heard other people talk about having reached that point long ago, but I never felt that way until recently. Between being out of work for a few months, leaving me with a lot of free time and little loose money, and my picky nature (not to mention all the crappy indie games that I played once and then never again), I stayed well ahead of my library. But now, with my job working me well over full time, and all the great games that have either gone on sale, added content, or just started working after an update (Unity:><:), I have too many games and too little time. Yay.

How do you then estimate how much a game is worth ? Why some shit AAA games should be 80€ (Planetary Annihilation), while other fantastic indi should be free (Dwarf Fortress is worth 12 years of almost full time job from its creator, and still going) ?

You creation is worth what you estimate is fair, nothing less, nothing more.
