Steam Audio, the new feature-filled audio solution from Valve is now supported directly in Unreal Engine 4 Valve just announced.
The Steam Audio plugin now ships with Unreal Engine 4.16 Preview 2 by default, so anyone using that engine will get access to it. It's not locked to a particular platform, or VR device, so it's pretty open for developers, which is great.
Find the full announcement here.
About Steam Audio
Steam Audio delivers a full-featured audio solution that integrates environment and listener simulation. HRTF significantly improves immersion in VR; physics-based sound propagation completes aural immersion by consistently recreating how sound interacts with the virtual environment.
I think it's a pretty great move by Valve to bring it out completely free. If you don't remember what it is, you can read more about it here.

https://valvesoftware.github.io/steam-audio/ was reported as a hacked site. Opera blocks this site (reported by netcraft). I checked this site on Netcraft: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report?url=https://valvesoftware.github.io/steam-audio/ so Netcraft say it's risky.
and http://steamcommunity.com/games/250820/announcements/detail/1292941199999967977 brings this error:

You have to tweak settings, or it says your microphone is making too much noise, and you will draw zombies toward you. Funny thing is, it isn't muting it, it is like the motherboard mic input has to be left at full volume, and you have to turn down the steam audio mic.
They fixed that, i was playing for 8 hours in a row with friend in coop, and it was the best experience i had with this game since i bought it. No problem with mic, solid 60 fps with max settings and zero network problems. Was really funny and perfect. We had to wait really long time but now game works perfect on multiplayer. Finally!
PD: btw, steam audio is not that. Steam audio is a new 3D audio, sounds that work with environment, raytracing, etc
Ah, okay, I thought it was like the in-game voice thingy.
Nice that they fixed that bug. We should get some of us Linux nerds together and play. I definitely could use some backup when taking out the Volatile caves in The Following.
