With its top-down fast action, Mantis Burn Racing [Official Site] looks like a fun game to play. Its developers have indicated they are open to a Linux port, so make your voices heard if you're interested.
The developers have expressed their willingness to port the game to Linux in this thread if there’s enough interest. It isn’t a solid promise but it’s a start! Top-down racers aren’t exactly a common thing, so it’d be nice to have something arcade-y and fast-paced like this on Linux, especially as the visuals and effects are also rather striking.
The game has a whole range of features, including local splitscreen multiplayer and an online mode as well. There's a few options for customizing your racing car as well with parts and all that, so you can make sure you have the edge on any track.
Official About:
The race is on in Mantis Burn Racing, where fast-paced bumper-to-bumper racing combines with intuitive, tactile gameplay and stunning visuals in one of the best-looking and immersive top-down racers around.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Looking very similar to Little Street Racer.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLLooking very similar to Little Street Racer.True, but Mantis is much prettier, I think, and there's something about how "vertical" Little Racers camera stands that put me off it. I tended to find that I needed to run each race in that game a couple of times because a few turns were so sudden, I couldn't prepare for them. From memory, it was also a wee grindy to get better cars, but no idea how Mantis compares in that regard.
I do enjoy this kind of game though, so it's good to see some (quality) competition.

Huh, long ago I was very fond of an arcade game that was called "Super Sprint" and later I also enjoyed "Death Rally" on PC. This looks similar to both of those and I don´t think I have seen someting like it on linux, so I´ll certainly add my voice to a porting.

I was just playing "Super Skidmarks" on FS-UAE, and thought that this is a genre that's been severely underrepresented in recent years.

That frame rate :)
Super Sprint however was exhilarating on those 4 player machines in the arcades. One of my favourite games from back in the day.

A little redundant, yet this article has already spurred two more pages of support posts in the thread so I guess GOL has a lot of new readers?

Oh and the name doesn't mean anything but coincidentally could be pronounced as "Buttery" which suits me just fine.
