Total War: SHOGUN 2 [Steam] and Fall of the Samurai [Steam] are being ported to Linux from Feral Interactive and they will be released on May 23rd.
The multiplayer is currently Linux to Linux only, from the press email:
From the Feral Announcement:
They have not yet revealed the system requirements. They say they will confirm those closer to release.
Two games from Feral Interactive's previous Mac ports, so it's nice to see them working through their older titles for us too.
I've asked Samsai to take the lead on the port report for this one, since Total War games aren't really something I'm greatly interested in. Even without my personal interest in it, this will be great to have on Linux since SHOGUN 2 is one of the most highly rated in the series!
This isn't the only upcoming port from Feral Interactive either, as the "Made to wade" clue is still hovering on their radar.

QuoteOnline multiplayer will be Linux vs Linux upon launch, and Feral is working on a patch that will enable macOS vs Linux in the near future.
From the Feral Announcement:
QuoteStake your claim on the shogunate on May 23rd with Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Fall of the Samurai, two magnificently expressed entries in the legendary Total War series.
Total War: SHOGUN 2 is a masterful combination of real-time tactics and turn-based strategy set against the dramatic backdrop of 16th century Japan.
Fall of the Samurai is the standalone sequel to Total War: SHOGUN 2, and moves the action on to the 19th century, where Japan plunges into the modern world with a spectacular clash of medieval and mechanized weaponry.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: michaI can't keep wondering whether it just was comparably little effort to port or if there's another reason to choose a 6 year old game with plenty of similar ones available.
Probably the first Feral ported game I won't buy. At least not without a massive sale. :-/
I'm guessing because it was highly requested, being among the most highly rated games in the series.
I already own it but it's one of the games I miss most since going Linux-only. And like others have said, I can always buy some DLC.

So the tease on the radar was for Shogun 2 and not Shadow Warrior 2?:'(
I'm not complaining, since I never experienced a Total War title and Shogun 2 can be a good start, but I was thinking about SW2 (even if the first one is sitting in my library and I haven't get a chance to play it).
Good Work BTW, keep porting!

Excellent! I've been waiting to buy Fall of the Samurai since giving Windows the boot. Shogun 2 is one of the Total War highlights for sure, and a very welcome addition to the Linux collection. Thank you Feral Interactive!

I honestly can't believe we now have so many Total War games. I would never have guessed this a few years back! THANKS FERAL

well, nice for people liking Total war series.
But too many Total war isn't too much Feral?
Is it because when you ported one Total war, they use the same engine and it makes it easy to port all other Total war?
I finished MadMax after ~60h last week (verdict: largely under Shadow of Mordor). I moved yesterday on Alien. Need another game for next month ^^ but not a total war. Even if I bought you Warhammer, Medieval II and Empire, I never succeeded to get addicted, probably because I can't catch all the game mechanisms.
I will try Long War on Xcom2 and hope for a hidden gem coming from elsewhere.

Having one of the best total war on linux, if not the best(with fall of samurai) is not a problem, I don't see why people complaining.

The next big thing will be everyone calling Linux (distros) an RTS OS. What's the last time a non-RTS game was released. Deus Ex maybe? (Indies don't count.)
