Total War: SHOGUN 2 [Steam] and Fall of the Samurai [Steam] are being ported to Linux from Feral Interactive and they will be released on May 23rd.
The multiplayer is currently Linux to Linux only, from the press email:
From the Feral Announcement:
They have not yet revealed the system requirements. They say they will confirm those closer to release.
Two games from Feral Interactive's previous Mac ports, so it's nice to see them working through their older titles for us too.
I've asked Samsai to take the lead on the port report for this one, since Total War games aren't really something I'm greatly interested in. Even without my personal interest in it, this will be great to have on Linux since SHOGUN 2 is one of the most highly rated in the series!
This isn't the only upcoming port from Feral Interactive either, as the "Made to wade" clue is still hovering on their radar.

QuoteOnline multiplayer will be Linux vs Linux upon launch, and Feral is working on a patch that will enable macOS vs Linux in the near future.
From the Feral Announcement:
QuoteStake your claim on the shogunate on May 23rd with Total War: SHOGUN 2 and Fall of the Samurai, two magnificently expressed entries in the legendary Total War series.
Total War: SHOGUN 2 is a masterful combination of real-time tactics and turn-based strategy set against the dramatic backdrop of 16th century Japan.
Fall of the Samurai is the standalone sequel to Total War: SHOGUN 2, and moves the action on to the 19th century, where Japan plunges into the modern world with a spectacular clash of medieval and mechanized weaponry.

About time, but that's great news. Fall of the Samurai in particular is the finest Total War experience to date.

If Feral port Warhammer 40000 Space Marine they will earn some my respect...
And if they port Bioshock 1 and 2 to Linux (they ported them to mac), I will respect them more...
And if the ports are DRMFREE, I will respect them 100%.
Space marine is unlikely its too old now maybe if a sequel was about to come out we would get it plus tricky to get as licence is divided between Relic and Sega and Warhammer.

Another Total War, I'll pass :S:
Would have preferred Rise of the Tomb Raider but I'm happy as long as Feral gets enough money.
Would also really like a good arcade racer (Need for Speed Rivals or Hot Pursuit (2010) for example) but I guess that's not possible since most of those games are from Linux unfriendly publishers.
MGS V would be nice too.

Shogun 2 is on sale at Humble Bundle for $7.99 i think. As well as all sega games, about ~75% off.

I always love when a Windows-only game I already own (got it for free with a video card years ago) starts working on Linux. w00t!

Glad I don't care about multiplayer with this game, but this is some bull shit, all the time its Linux and Mac multiplayer, no windows, thats what kills the chances in some games picking up on Mac and Linux, like with Arma3.It's not bullshit. Different maths libraries make cross-platform multiplayer impossible because matches would quickly become out of sync. This will always be a problem for games that were built for Windows first and ported to Linux second. The only way around it is to use a cross-platform maths library, but Windows-only game houses don't think of that sort of thing and use whatever is built into Windows.

If I buy this game on linux to gift to someone that uses windows, will Feral get his slice? I already own the game.

Only if you buy it from the Feral store I think.

I already own the game.In the past, one could buy games on Linux, keep them for at least 15 days so that they would be permanently recorded as Linux sales, then gift them to Windows users. That is no longer possible, however...

Does anyone know "if" I buy Shogun 2 on Humble (which is currently on Sale there) that Feral, the porters, will get their cut for a Linux purchase or not? https://www.humblebundle.com/store/total-war-shogun-2-collection
TW:S2 isn't really my sort of game, and as such I am very unlikely to pay full price for it. But getting it at a substantial reduction, sure, I can drop some cash and give a little support to a Linux porter.

To the best of common knowledge, Humble is doing well in distinguishing OS sales.

It is of course unknown if this also happens before they have Linux support ticked in their store.
