Yooka-Laylee [Steam, GOG, Official Site] has been patched and it's actually a pretty decent patch. It sounds like they've really listened to feedback.
Highlights:
You can see the full changelog here, there's a lot more smaller changes too.
The gibberish chat and non-skippable cut-scenes were two major annoyances for me, so I'm really pleased to see those get sorted. Any game that doesn't allow you to skip scenes gets a black mark in my book. Seems like I might now be able to complete it, as it sounds like it's a much better experience overall now.
What do you guys think to the game, have any of you completed it?
Highlights:
- New camera mode with minimal assist. (Find this in the settings menu)
- Further, general camera improvements in set locations within the game.
- Skip cut-scenes.
- Shorter 'gibberish chat'. (Find this in the settings menu)
- Skip dialogue by holding Y.
- The Capital Cashino bugs have been squished with great vengeance and furious anger.

I really think their coop mode, who's just a cursor picking up stuff being the only thing the second player could do, was a missed opportunity to create a really cool couch coop game. I am aware of the multiplayer "arcade", but that's secondary to the main game.
I might still pick it up eventually as it looks charming enough in itself, but yeah... A well designed coop mode would have made it an instabuy.

Did they fix the first boss (Rampo)? No idea if it's Linux-specific or SteamOS-specific, but for me it was completely broken: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSbY8WPEcnw
I can't check it myself because after SteamOS update my xbox360 controller doesn't work at all with Yooka-Laylee (and if I enable xbox controllers in the controller settings menu in SteamOS, it is recognised in Yooka-Laylee but the right stick doesn't work, so it's still pretty much unplayable).

I've hated the damn gibberish chat right from the start. It's badly implemented and annoying, so making it unskippable was a major downside for me. By contrast, look at the old PS1 game Klonoa to see the same idea done well.

Is GOG really updated? I still get the old version.

I backed this on kickstarter because at $15 it felt like a steal and I want the 3d platformer genre back but in the first place a banjo kazooie like title never really appealed to me. Granted I only occasionally played it on demos in stores but as a kid all I needed was my Spyro to get my fix. Spyro was great, I feel like downloading an emulator now and playing it some.
