Even though AMD already did an AMDGPU-PRO Driver 17.10 release, they've done another one with the same name. Confusing as ever, but this newer driver has some useful fixes. Thanks Phoronix.

First, it adds support for the Radeon™ RX 560 Series GPUs. It also has three noteworthy changes:
  • Fixed an issue with Mad Max on Vulkan
  • Updated marketing names for Radeon™ Pro Duo and AMD FirePro™ S9300 x2.
  • Some performance issues with AMD Radeon™ R9 2xx cards on glmark2, tessract and gpuplot3D addressed.

Note: I don't have an AMD GPU to test their claim of fixing it.

They still aren't officially supporting Ubuntu 17.04, with Ubuntu 16.04.02 being needed (amongst a few other supported distributions).

See the full details here.

Going by our opt-in statistics, most people use the open source Mesa driver with AMD. Valve also dropped AMDGPU-PRO in favour of Mesa in SteamOS, since Mesa progression is a lot quicker.

Is anyone here using the PRO driver? If so, why are you favouring it over Mesa? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I tried to use Vulkan driver from AMDGPU-PRO instead of RADV, but with no luck on Ubuntu 17.04.
