Tyranny [Official Site] is a pretty fantastic experience for RPG fans on Linux and it seems something is coming tomorrow.

Obsidian has begun teasing something, what that something is I have no idea. Quite possibly a new DLC:

You can see the two tweets here and here.

Obviously very little to go on right now, but it's quite exciting. The game is huge as it is, so if they manage to expand the world it will be interesting to see where it goes.

What are you personally hoping for? Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

On which note, Tyranny can be grabbed at 50% off (Commander edition) or 60% off (Archon edition) on Humble store right now - By claiming the free Coupons on the E3 Bundle Page .

I'm pretty tempted myself, but I've got such a big back-log of games and haven't even started Pillars of Eternity (plus expansions) yet, which I already own.

Coupon currently heating up in my hand. Hehe.

They still didn't fix the annoying lack of LFS bug... I think the reason they are stuck with 32-bit is some mess of Paradox integration libraries that they are using, which don't exist in 64-bit.

Is this worth a punt then? It seems to get rave reviews on Steam, but I haven't seen a Lets Play, so I'm not sure if it's my kind of thing. I loved Balder's Gate back in the day, but didn't really like the mechanics in PoE much. I enjoyed a bit of Divinity, but grew bored after about 20 hours or so. I absolutely loved the Shadowrun games.

I also have a bit of backlog, but I'm looking for something to sink my teeth into now that I've finally finished Salt and Sanctuary (twice!).

I heard the game was quite short story wise, like 6hrs or something.

I might wait until it hits $15usd or something .

I'd say it's at least 20 hours long, which is short by some crpg standards. According to Steam, I spent over 40 hours on my first playthrough, but I tend to take longer completing games than than most do.

Colour me excited for this. I hope its story content, because Tyranny was a great game and it's spell mechanics and story are just screaming for a continuation.

This is the game I vowed to never buy thanks to GOG's lack of upgrade paths, which are present on Steam.

The Tyranny coupons expire Jun 20th , the day of the steam sale.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is an upgrade path?

I guess he means upgrading from edition to another.
So , if you have the base game edition and want to upgrade that to the deluxe edition.

Here is hoping it's something better than just another portrait pack.

Tyranny was a pretty amazing game though, especially loved how the intro worked and how it was integrated into the rest of the game. It really gives the player meaningful choice.

Ah thanks! Makes sense that way, yes. I indeed see no such step-up, though many other games have it (on GOG). Sounds like a restriction from publisher to me, but what do I know :/

To lay all the cards on the table, Pillars of Eternity suffered the first from this and after contacting Paradox and Obsidian they both bounced it back on GOG. Up to this day, nothing has been done about it, and as a completionist as I am I ended up paying twice the amount a Steam user would (regardless of how much discount there is). That ended there.

Tyranny was on the horizon, the game was released as per the usual triple editions, both on Steam and GOG. Later on, Steam got the upgrade paths and here yet again the GOG version remains without.

--------------

So what does the above mean? It means that if you own the basic edition on GOG and wish to upgrade later for the extras you will be paying as if you're buying the game from fresh which typically results twice the amount as you would from Steam.

Strangely enough, many games released on GOG afterwards got upgrade paths. These 2 games however were left in the dark and are both developed and published by Obsidian and Paradox respectively.

Apologies if this seems to go off topic, it's something that has always bothered me and I wanted to get it off my chest.

Hmm.. in my opinion Tyranny isn't really like Baldur's or Pillars. Has a very different feel to it.

It's good for the role playing aspect I suppose but I found it a little bit too simplistic.

Seems it is new DLC Tales from the Tiers.

https://www.paradoxplaza.com/tyranny-tales-from-the-tiers?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=tftt_tyranny_twitter_all_20170612&utm_content=tweet

Seems it is an event pack. With new story elements in the existing world, so no new areas to explore, nothing like an expansion. Not sure how I feel about it this moment.
