ARK: Survival Evolved [Steam] is due to release in full on August the 8th, 2017 and they have also announced a new free map which is available right now.
They have announced and released 'Ragnarok', a new officially supported huge map created under their 'Sponsored Mods' program. Check out the trailer for this free new content:
Apparently it's not actually working on the Linux/Mac clients yet though.
Going back to the release date news, the developers are promising some surprise release content and content beyond the full launch. The claim to have massive amounts still coming to the game, like new features, creatures, story and more.
See the full news here.
My problem with ARK, is that the developers clearly put very little attention into the Linux version. It's still incredibly buggy, parts of it are completely broken (hello Caves), yet it's still such an engrossing game that I really want to play. I really hope one day they spend a bit of time polishing up the Linux version. They certainly aren't alone in needing to do that though!
Also, as a reminder, we do actually have an ARK server that recently had a refresh. See a list of our servers here.

Some you may have missed, popular articles from the last month:
Quoting: KetilIf I turn down some graphics stuff, then a 3GB 1060 GTX has acceptable performance. Still some graphical glitches though.
Same here. I can live with the actual performances (gtx 970), but the graphical glitches are really annoying : it's almost impossible to explore the caves right now because of the "rainbow glitch" and the black textures...
It's a shame because this game is really great, without any doubt the best survival game on Linux...

Haven't played it in a long time, but what worked for me at an early state of the game was: max. out graphics (epic or something like that it was called), then restart the game and it ran smoothly with a i7-3770k & gtx970@3840x2160 ... it even ran better at that setting than lower graphics details (but I don't know if that still works with the current version)... so they seem to do weird things with the engine (at least in the past)...

That R9 285 in my PC info is only there because of this damn game. I'm normally an APU guy. The 285 only helped recover performance until it became unplayable again in mid-2016. There's no doubt that studio Wildcard are wrecking performance with each update.

Unfinished games are the only ones that make me feel like I need 16 GB of RAM, so I stick with my 8 GB.
Once ARK is released, I'll install it again and give it a try. I had a little fun in it before. If it performs terribly and upgrading stuff is a major grind, I won't waste my time.

Somehow I do not have any performance issue, but texture glitches is there, and ARK devs ignore them, as much as they can:

For me only playable map is SE, because there is small amount of water and it is main glich reason (rivers, waterfalls, rain) in any other map. Even caves is playable there. They has some glitches in entrance, but only there.

I tweeted Jat and the official twitter to, no reply from either.
Edit: I've also emailed them now too.

WC has fixed the oslist property on ragnarok, so we can now install and run it:

Fixed 11 hours ago.
Now I still need to work before I can test it :-(

That would go a long way to explaining why when I tried the map the other day it took me straight back to the main menu.
