Ashes of the Singularity [Steam] is aiming to have Vulkan support in August, which paves the way for Linux support in future.

On Steam, a developer replied to GOL follower Fabry's question about Vulkan support with "Most likely August.". While that isn't Linux news, we do already know that Linux support depends on Ashes having Vulkan support first, since they won't do OpenGL.

As of right now, the Linux support request post on Steam, that was created by the CEO of Stardock has 753 replies, which is a very good sign. There's actually more requests for a Linux port than the game has in total reviews.

They are planning to put up a new roadmap soon, so we might be surprised to see Linux now firmly in their sights.

I am really hopeful on this one, especially since proper RTS games are easily my favourite genre. I was a massive player of Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander, so this looks exactly like what I miss on Linux. I would be extremely happy if it came to our platform.

Please note: I fully recommend waiting until they actually put out a Linux version to buy it, don't be daft by buying it now if they decide not to port it.

Thanks for the tip Fabry. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I already have it. But I have not played it yet. It was in the Humble Monthly last month, so it is in my library already even though I do not have a windows machine.

I was tempted to get it on the Steam summer sale, but I've decided to wait and see if they support Linux first. I don't trust developers to keep their promises and I want to make sure that if/when they do support Linux my purchase is visible to them as a Linux purchase.

Wasn't this the one where they tried to start a poll before offering Linux support and a lot of people were up in arms at that sort of non profesionnalism ?

August is not so far we'll see what happens then, I hope they'll port it at some point as I like the Sci-Fi RTS genre. Would pay full price for the complete package when that happens.

I've been desperately missing Sins of a Solar Empire since going Linux-only. I want this game on Linux so very badly. Stardock, please reward a loyal SOASE player.

I have that one on my wishlist ever since they said they will do a linux version, so before they revoked that.

I really hope they will do a port and I can buy the game.

Seconded.I actually post this in every Stardock-related post, but I wouldn't mind getting SoaSER as a wrapped port.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to this one :)
