With the big Dawn of War III release getting closer, one Mesa developer has put some serious effort into getting Mesa ready to game on.
Samuel Pitoiset sent in a set of 23 patches that should "save few CPU cycles for this not yet released game". Any performance improvement is welcome and I'm sure when these are pulled into a Mesa release, it will make for some happy Linux gamers using Mesa.
You can see the initial request here, where Samuel put out 21 patches, but it has since been revised into Version 2 with 23 patches.
From the looks of things, Mesa doesn't yet have all it needs to run Dawn of War III properly in Mesa-git, so unfortunately some of you may need to wait on it. Hopefully everything that's required, plus these performance patches will land soon.
Fantastic work as always, really pleasing to see performance being worked on so diligently lately.
On top of that, 17.1.2 the latest bug-fix release of the current major Mesa version has just released. The Intel Vulkan 'ANV' had several fixes, as did the i965, R100, R200, Radeonsi/GFX9, Radv and Freedreno drivers.
